I see what Rick did in the last episode as being pretty much on par with this. He was going to kill off wife beater so he could get the wifey poon. Amazing how much Rick has become like Shane lately.Like Shane may have been right about a lot of things but he was clearly full of shit when he tried to justify his actions as being "for the group." (for the poon, more like it)
Round 2 with the governor where he attacked the prison was definitely out of vengeance. But Rick wanted to do the same thing to the folks at Terminus. He said "they don't get to live" after they all got out but was talked out of it. I have wondered if the walking dead was from the perspective of the folks in Woodbury would we have thought that Ricks group was the bad guys.Granted, Carol just straight up wanted a guy dead for being a wife beater and did everything she could to manipulate that outcome. But that's not on the same level as wanting a whole town of strangers dead just for hanging out in the same zip code.
All this comes from an argument I had with a buddy about the show because he claimed that he would remain honorable through out and not do any "evil" and my point was that you really wouldn't know what you would be capable of doing until put in those situations. I like the point that Bob made that at somepoint if things get better you are going to have to come back from the abyss and reconcile the things you did while you were out there. I think Ricks group is at that edge of trying to figure out just what is their limits. Some don't seem to have limits (Carol for instance) and I am curious if this is going to be a problem later down the road.
