2 was great, still one of the best superhero movies.

3 was a retarded chimpanzee eating all the shit from the other chimpanzees.

Amazing was the love child of that chimpanzee and a syphilitic baboon with AIDS and Down's.

In case it's not clear, the bar set by 3 was buried deep underground. And Amazing's attempt to clear that bar didn't get aboveChallenger Deep.

I probably over-hate Amazing because, inexplicably, there's some weird mongoloid fucks out there who think it was good. And not just good, but a good Spider-Man movie to boot. Which absolutely baffles me. It was, at the very best, somewhat worse than FF2.

I never really understood what was compelling about beta ray bill.
I'd have to say, for me, that it was mainly the lead-up to it in the actual comics. There was all this imagery by Walt Simonson with some mysterious cosmic being working on an anvil and every time the hammer came down it went "DOOM" in this cool font and shit, and this mysterious spaceship that eventually ended up being named Scuttlebutt and was actually pretty cool, and Beta Ray Bill himself seeming like a villain at first because of his appearance and then turning out to be as heroic as, if not more so, Thor himself, and actually took his hammer from him because of it. This was back when Thor had his alter-ego with the walking stick, so without his hammer he was just a puny mortal.

Like I said, I realize a ton of people either don't get it or actively hate him, but Thor was fairly mediocre for awhile there, and then that cover with Beta Ray Bill smashing the old and tired logo (and it changing to a new font next issue) and just in general stirring shit up with the Thor universe, that's what made it interesting to me. And then Odin gave Bill his own hammer, Stormbreaker, which was the equivalent of Mjolnir and basically claimed Bill as his son too...I don't know, it is hard to explain, but being a young teen reading that shit was just something I'll always remember.

He's essentially a Thor clone and nothing special, but he was always one of my favorites. Going back and reading it after the fact probably wouldn't have the same effect as waiting each month, making sure I had 60 cents set aside for the next issue, and reading it as it unfolded. And that's why I realize there is a snowball's chance in hell that he actually shows up on the big screen, because he's nothing special, and not a fan favorite, and almost completely inaccessible to the non-comic fan. But I can hope!

Still don't understand the Amazing Spiderman hate... sure it wasn't the best movie in terms of Marvel Movies but it got us out of Tobey Maguire. The SP3 was terrible and Tobey was like watching a basket of kittens getting stepped on. I enjoyed the movie... felt much more heroic than the others and the fight scenes were much more Spider-man-esque.

I liked the emo part of Spiderman 3 with the showing off, dancing and dyed black hair. I didn't like having so, so many bad guys.

i have to say when tobey started emo stepping around my dad sitting next to me said, "fuck this bullshit" and got up to leave. i had to cajole him back to sit down, saying that it was just a bad scene and it would end awesome. i got him to watch the rest of it, then when the movie was over and it did not improve i got my ass reamed out. he stopped letting me pick the movie we went to see for 2 fucking years. i had to sit through films like motherfucking paul blart mall cop as punishment. WTF. why dad why?

Beta Ray Bill is a terrible name, that's why people don't like him. Sigma Beam Hank, Alpha Laser Bob, Delta Blast Steve. See what I mean.

i did because it was a bad film, but im a huge sam raimi fan and by all accounts his films are quality or at least schlocky goodness or both. its probably the only time i have ever gone wrong with one of his films. interestingly enough 2 years later i convinced my dad that Drag Me to Hell was worth a shot. i did not tell him that it was directed by the same guy who did Spiderman 3. we both came out of that theater laughing and smiling. home run.

Are you 12?
i dont know any females who like nerd films same deal with my dad. his wife doesnt want to watch that dumb shit. so we meet up at the cinema and pick something good and watch. i dunno. do 12 year olds usually do this?

Sam Raimi was pretty much butting heads with producers all over Spiderman 3. Raimi thinks Venom is a shitty character and didn't want him in the movie at all.

And if they'd left him alone it probably would have been a bit better. He did a good job with Sandman. It was just everything else that blew=P

As for the Godawful dancing scene, it was less retarded than the crane scene in Amazing. Or the emo sk8trboi spider-man scene.....Jesus Fucking Christ.

Part 2 will be better though, because it can't be worse. It won't begoodunless Emma Stone hangs beav though.

I dunno, i never found amazing spiderman to be THAT bad....spiderman 3, ff2, xmen origins:wolverine, and xmen last stand are without a doubt the worst superhero movies of the past 2 decades. Dark knight rises comes really close.

Amazing spiderman got a few things right, it showed peter parker as really intelligent, spiderman being a smartass, and spiderman fighting with a ton of acrobatics in close combat, and fially using his webs right. Not just to websling, but in fights to bounce back to his opponent, to subdue opponents. And he shot webs in really various forms. The most impressive was in the sewers where he ran all those lines and waited for awire to trip like a true spider.

Not using his webs to full potential was always a point of frustration in the raimi spiderman movies.

Really looking forward to see thor and loki in a asgardian buddy cop movie.

Tom Hiddleston really has taken an absurd Marvel villain with a terrible costume and made him into a Big Bad. People who don't really follow comic books now think of Loki as like Magneto or Lex Luthor.

I didn't follow the comics but yeah, I had kinda assumed after the movies that Loki was a Big Bad. Is he not in the comics? He was fucking great in Thor and Avengers, to me the best parts of both involved him. Great job with the character.

Loki is a foe of both Thor and the Avengers, but he is pretty far down the totem pole in terms of universal badassery in the comics. I mean he is still an Asgardian and so being a god really isn't a slouch, but...

I wouldn't be too terribly surprised if Marvel didn't just have a Loki movie and give fangirls (and boys) 2 straight hours of Loki chewing the scenery.

as with any comic character his personality and general importance/ability/influence etc varies between stories

sometimes, when author is bad, he's a complete retard who create stupid plans for stupid reasons that end in stupid ways. Sometimes he's a fantastic and powerful villain capable to screw everyone and get away with it

basically he is what Doctor Doom is for Fantastic Four, or Lex Luthor is for Superman, but for different reasons he never became as dungerous as them

Doom and Luthor many times went beyond the stories of FF and Superman and became "globally" dungerous. Loki lacks those stories

in the end, he's still a very known and feared character by anyone, theorically on the same level of Doom/Magneto/Luthor, but his history lacks those moments of "global" badassery
