Colin Farell has done a really good job. It certainly helps his character is the best by a wide margin, but I never have met anyone, it seems, who thought he could really act (aside from In Bruges which was just bound to be a solid movie either way).

the blue is decent, but its not spectacular over black or red. i have a friend who occasionally used to tend bar for his father in law and i would drink for free all night. i tried all of them, blue is smoother, but i cant say its godlike. a good manly scotch is JB which is cheap shit in comparison , but puts hair on your chest.

I dont know why people dont respect Farrel more. Yea he was kind of unconvincing in certain roles but I never had a problem with him. I actually liked him.in Fright Night so maybe im just gay for him?

I didn't realize he was receiving disrespect. He's a great actor. Should watch some of his early stuff, anyone that hasn't. He went a bit wild a few years after making it, but he cleaned up and has been doing a lot of low key work since then.

Farrell's carrer suffered from Alexander, which was a mess on every level anyway. He was quite good in a lot of movies (Miami Vice, In Bruges, Dead Man Down, The New World, etc). He's a good actor, he just needs solid direction and quality script.

I've always found him not terrible, but pretty forgettable. Sure, in actiony types of movies he grimaces just fine as he's running around. But in slower, more dramatic/measured roles I'm usually distracted by his accent slipping or it sounding a bit too forced and stiff. He's also not terribly emotive outside of his eyebrows and grimacing. I find he's got Keanu syndrome for me where it's always the same look whether confused or angry. I don't hate him in TD2 and think there have been some good scenes and he's done decently with what he's been given, but he's not exactly nailing it or reinvigorating his career imo.

But isn't being convincing like the single most important thing an actor does? I guess that's why I've never been that impressed with him because I've just never been fully convinced he's any character but himself getting to be in a movie.

Could not disagree more. The taste of black and red is shit compared to the more subtle complexities of blue. In addition the after burn is basics non existent on the blue. It's vastl better. I don't think it's 200 bucks a bottle better but black can't even lick the sweat off blues bottle.

well, to be honest, its been at least 5 years since i had it and i likely was half on my ass from all the free cognac and sagre's bohemia beer my friend kept bringing me. i just remember downing it and not thinking anything special.

I actually just had Black, Platinum, and Blue recently. Only reason I said anything. Like I said I don't think Blue is worth the price but I think it's much better. I'm not really a fan of the Black.

Farrel is a fantastic actor. I agree Alexander was a disaster, but he does a good job and is convincing in most of his roles. True Detective will end up being one of his seminole performances.
