most of the 70s and 80s television couldnt be made today or it would have to be majorly overhauled and watered down so as not to offend anyone.

I feel like some of you guys don't watch TV. You really think Cheers wouldn't be made today because of Sam? Have you ever watched Lucifer?

I think Cheers might not get remade today but it has way more to do with the jokes than with any of the characters. That show didn't really age well.

I agree- MASH wouldn't cut it. Not politically (as an anti- Vietnam war show, thinly veiled as a Korean War story) or because of the characters. Also, every surgeon would have to be black or female.

Why "The Rockford Files?" One of my favorites of all time. Why have plot and characters anymore? And the car! Loved it. But why wouldn't it cut it now? Too intelligent?

i remember talk about a rockford reboot, had to look it up. NBC tried a reboot in 2010, but apparently the director and nbc were not on the same page. in 2012, Vince Vaughn was looking to produce and star in a reboot, but was shelved after garner died in 2014.

Who can get into the minds of SJWs? I mean Castle was the spiritual successor. I loved Rockford Files, but it could never be made today.

You can't do that on television. In the school Detention skits the principal had a German accent and wore a brown uniform reminiscent of an SS officer. Also the kids were chained to a wall in a dungeon.

Rockford Files couldn't be made today because it required a heck of a lot of writing talent and complicated scripts written by single human beings.

Love Boat couldn't be made today. White Doctor, white captain. gross heterosexual sex. Elitists on a boat.
Dukes of Hazard- non inbred (and some sexy) white people from the South .
Little House of the Prairie - white people working hard and surviving while building America; all without handouts from the government or rescue from helpful, peaceful, indigenous peoples.
