Social contagion is the term I heard Jordan Peterson use for it. Certainly there's social engineering and grooming causing it too, but others are just stupid and jump on the bandwagon.

ROFL Quin69 is about to get cancelled. Just said in his channel that some trannies are just doing it as a meme. I fucking love Quin.

It's why twitch and youtube are gay cocksuckers. If I want to listen to Sandso_01 for his opinion, then I should be allowed to hear it. Trannies are sick degenerates and stating such should be common sense not a bannable offense.

its wild to me only 1k streamers have more than 350 subs, i assume i am missing something like the big streamers aren't part of twitch partners or something (which doesnt make sense but whatever)

It's non-gift, non-prime subs. People who meet this requirement probably have 3 or 4x that number of total subs

Last night I was watching Lawlman play Star Citizen and he was discussing this. He had 1k subs currently to his channel, but it was mostly prime and gift subs and he was like short 50 regular subs from being able to qualify

It's because Twitch's discovery algos are basically non existent and complete dogshit. So, just about everybody consolidates their views into the "popular" streamers.

Why would gifted subs not count? That is actual, real money subs, unlike Primers... The fuck?

The program involves revenue sharing. They need the number of streamers they have to share with as small as possible.

This new Partner Program benefit will offer 70% share on net subscription revenue to streamers who meet the qualification criteria.

Also the giant streamers like Lirik, Quin, Asmongold, and Shroud already get sub rev splits likely higher then this 70/30 or at the least uncapped form that $100k a year. I imagine this will help medium streamers like Dog from Hearthstone that easily has those numbers but may not be in the position to bargain for a much higher sub rev split. With the extra incentive it could encourage those streamers to put the extra effort in to make the most of that revenue split by improving the quality of the stream or increasing hours to try to reach a more permanent revenue split, or at the very least keep them on the platform incase YouTube comes calling.

It's a smart move by Twitch that requires people to do nothing or try to reach the goal via subathons and such.

It's nothing more than Twitch inventing more bad faith business practices to pretend they are interested in actually working with streamers.

"Streamers can gift themselves subs!!!"

We landed people on the moon 50+ years ago, but Twitch can't harvest their own data to filter out things like that and ONLY things like that?

Lol.

Beyond fudging numbers, they want reliable revenue from actual people who will continue subbing rather than the whims of one whale gifting 50 people who might stop next week.

No... they want to pretend they are interested in revenue sharing to create goodwill from the community without actually having to revenue share.

That is a big contract. How much money does Stake make for this be worth it?

They aren't going to make money off that deal. That's a loss leader. Trying to lure the biggest audiences away... where have we seen this tried and fail before?

Also... a paywall article? Come on man
