It is most musicians that do that shit. I came across some drummer YouTuber, who was around our age, who was saying he had never heard of Neil Peart. Then did a perfect YYZ drum set after hearing it for the "first time."

Yeah those drumeo videos are pretty odd, i think the first one i saw was dennis chambers playing schism and it was mostly downhill from there lol

Drumeo may have started that "trend," but I'm sure others have picked it up for the views. With Drumeo, at least, they seem believable in who has heard what. Especially depending on the background of the Drummer.

Like Kirk Verbeuren (Megadeth drummer) never hearing The Killers before is easy to see, as there is so much music that it's easy to stay within or close to the genre you are most interested in (if you so choose):

People get busy with their own shit. There are huge parts of just metal to get lost in, not even expanding it to all rock. Where would someone just hear music they aren't interested in, where they would then recognize it later? The only reason I know Mr. Brightside is because it was played on Entourage and I downloaded the Entourage "discography."

Is 30 Seconds to Mars is a big band? I don't know, as I don't know a single song of theirs. Going through the most popular Drumeo vids, I dont know any songs by Slipknot, Paramore, Mastodon, or My Chemical Romance. I listened to a lot of music (with decent variety) up until around 2010 and yet none of these bands played anything I liked, if I got exposed to them at all.
