The odd thing is there is a guy who steams Eve Online I watch from time to time, we mostly talk about EQ since he still plays it off stream and such. He is a stay at a home day and has an autistic kid that runs around in the background a lot. People talk about the autism in eve online a lot (it's real) and he always says I'm aware of it and it's autism in game but not offended by it apparently.

When we launched Twitch Prime we were determined to give streamers and their viewers the best value in gaming. And since then we’ve seen the Twitch community take advantage of Twitch Prime perks like monthly channel subscriptions to support favorite streamers, Free Games with Prime, and in-game loot for games like Fortnite, PUBG, Hearthstone, and more. On top of everything you get through Amazon Prime, this year alone we’ve offered members more than $1,000 worth of games and loot.
As we have continued to add value to Twitch Prime, we have also re-evaluated some of the existing Prime benefits. As a result, we are announcing two changes.
First, universal ad-free viewing will no longer be part of Twitch Prime for new members, starting on September 14. Members with monthly subscriptions will continue to get ad-free viewing until October 15. If you already have an annual subscription, or if you upgrade to an annual subscription before September 14, you will continue with ad-free viewing until your next renewal date.
Advertising is an important source of support for the creators who make Twitch possible. This change will strengthen and expand that advertising opportunity for creators so they can get more support from their viewers for doing what they love. Second, starting on August 28, Prime members will now get a $10 Amazon credit when pre-ordering select games on Amazon.com. This credit can be used on almost anything sold by Amazon.com. This new pre-order benefit is replacing the current discount on physical game pre-orders. All eligible pre-orders placed before August 28 will still receive the 20% discount under the existing benefit once the game is released. All other Twitch Prime benefits, like monthly channel subs, monthly games and loot, and chat badges are not changing. You can still get channel-specific ad-free viewing as part of Twitch Prime by using your monthly subscription token on a channel that has ad-free viewing for subscribers turned on. Plus, all Twitch viewers can get ad-free viewing across all channels by subscribing to Twitch Turbo. And with your Twitch Prime membership you can still take advantage of all the other Amazon Prime benefits, like free two-day shipping and access to Prime Video and Prime Music*.

I was planning on dropping my Prime after they reduced the 20% pre-order bonus to 10%, and got rid of the Amazon Basics discount. This is just another reason to do so. The free games are nice, but they're nothing not easily pirated and I don't think I've actually bothered to play any.

do a lot of streams run ads? I always thought most of them said ads were actually worse than no ads, since people tend to drop out when an ad plays, people won't sub during ad plays, etc. i don't think any of the big streamers ever run ads.
If amazon starts applying $10 pre order discounts to digital that'd be nice
my wife fucking loves amazon (100+ orders this year alone) and her work pays for prime and i linked my twitch account to her prime acct so I get all the free games and shit (never played a single one either), i haven't even used my free twitch sub in months. just too lazy to give a fuck about any of the retards on there

I think we'd all be surprised by the amount of 18-30 y/o's that watch people like Ninja. Certainly not as many as kids, but the numbers are still likely significant, especially if they're being targeted because they are "ad resistant"

Also keep in mind that a lot of twitch viewing happens on mobile which likely doesn't have ad blocking, also lots of anti ad blocking tech out there. This is just the first step. Next will be pressure on streamers to turn ads on. Because right now who's going to watch a no-name when the big guys offer 0 ads
