Too bad for them their reputation is shit now, and these days a blizzard game is looked at as tainted, not the grass is greener scenario they are hoping for.
Blizzard's reputation is shit? They only have the top MMO, RTS and aRPG on the market.

There was never actually an MMO under construction. Titan was just their code-word for "Rolling around in a swimming pool filled with money."

One of the investors caught on, thus the purge.

So basically, if you release a game you thought might suck, you get verbally raped. And if you also can or push out a game you thought might suck, you get verbally raped. At least they know what the community response will be. We are the worst fucking customers in the world outside of those obese scooter-riding Walmart assholes.

Its pretty obvious really. D3 RMAH was the beta test to see if maybe an MMO could be based off such a model. And the results are in...Blizzard Admits Diablo-III Auction House Was a Mistake
Right... because its not as if Blizzard could easily create a new type of character akin to selecting "Hardcore" that doesn't have either auction house available.... Nope, not possible! It certainly wouldn't give any indication of how many people liked the auction house vs. disliked it either!

Sarcasm aside. If Blizzard made a WoW clone StarCraft MMO, or completely new world minus cross realm everything, factions, massive amounts of BOP/BOE items, and MORE of a wealth/item-level gap I would be all over it. Sadly the Blizzard of today is way less responsive to customer feedback, and way way way more focused on revenue generation through easy cash transactions like the RMAH, Server Transfers, Race Changes, and other crap.

EDIT
The fact that Blizzard had large beta tests with a very responsive attitude to feedback for all games leading up to and including WoW, but chose to have a half Act 1 Diablo 3 beta with minimal response to feedback really speaks volumes. Had Blizzard had a real beta test for Diablo 3 99% of the launch complaints would have been averted.

Because they don't give a shit anymore. Very few companies can walk the walk of integrity and success. Blizzard did for a long time, but not anymore.

Yeah, I actually had a pretty verbose explanation of Blizzards decline written up, but said screw it. The point was pretty much made with the D3 example.

Probably been canned for ages they just didn't announce it because they wanted to sell Blizzcon tickets under the impression they would be showing Titan.

They don't need that. Enough people are lusting after Blizzcon even knowing nothing about what they announce that the tickets would sell out in 25s instead of 15s.

so take a team of 100 who apparently have created a shitty product, reassign 2/3ds of the team to fuck up your other games, and then retry with the same core team to make something better. it sounds like a great plan.
Depends which 2/3rds it is and why the project was canned. If it was canned for being a pants on head retarded idea, for example, they might keep the developers building the engine and bring in a new bunch of idea people and artists. Another viable strategy would be to move off anyone who actually did anything and leave behind the ideas guys to come up with a non pants on head retarded idea.

Top aRPG by sales perhaps, certaintly not critically. It'll be interesting to see how many stay for the expansion.

The problem is that there is no game out there that is crazy new and amazing for them to iterate on and make better. So they are having a tough time making something amazing. That's my theory.

I may be the last remaining gamer on the planet who has never tried Minecraft. Then again I don't get all moist over MOBA games either.

I've never tried Minecraft either, you aren't alone. Probably never will.

This saddens me a bit. Blizzard has always been one of my favorite gaming companies, but they really lost sight of why people buy their products. A good name can only go so far (Diablo 3), until people realize the company has no idea what they're doing. They got lucky with SC2/HOTS, but even some of the pros still play Brood War exclusively. WoW went from absolute gold to a steaming pile of shit because the company has no idea how to appease everyone at the same time - which in all reality shouldn't be the design philosophy.

I hope the company can turn it around. I hope that they are still capable of making good decisions, although I fear the worst on this I'm afraid.
