No. It's a pretty meaningless distinction. Maybe you could say that Sony's morpheus 'blocks' porn because the PS4 might not be compatible with their version of porn.

I'd say there's a really good chance that Sony will do their dead level best to try and block it. Not sure about Steam's VR. I don't know enough about how they intend to allow development on that platform.

Valve will not only want to be porn compatible, they'll hope that real doll will make a VR + real doll system that is built on their technology.

FOVE's kickstarter is live:
FOVE:The World's First Eye Tracking Virtual Reality Headset by FOVE Kickstarter

Their goals should read, "We are working hard to build a world class eye tracking VR system so that Facebook, Valve or anyone really will buy us out! Please give us money so we can boost the price!".

But seriously I hope they do well. Eye tracking isn't going to be in the first generation of VR products, but it will be a huge component in future products. Foveated rendering is pretty much the only thing I know of that will make 8k displays feasible.

I'm skeptical that the FOVE headset works how it says on the tin. If it does then they would already be fielding offers from Oculus/Valve. The kickstarter is either a marketing thing or they're fucking liars. I don't see how it could be any other way.

I got to quickly try out a DK2 Rift... I was surprised that I could easily see pixles and really did not strike me as any better than the OG VR at like Disney Quest.. except that range of vision was great- I did never see the "outside" of the screen so the immersion was way better than the old stuff that was like a square floating in front of you. Also it was a virtual conference room demo...so it may not have actually been a good rig to push out whatever the max reso is for the kit... it was running off of a little laptop.

How are vr headset makers doing with the motion sickness issues that were quite prevalent months ago. Have they gotten better in that area?

Got to try a Samsung VR at Best Buy. Couldn't get it focused quite right, hand to tilt my head down and then look up for it to work well. Was really kinda awesome otherwise, was in a room or something with Cirque performers doing their thing performing / being creepy as hell.

Wife has a Note 4, can't say I wouldn't consider picking up the kit for her phone at some point to tinker with.

Just got this thing for my 6s and i am realy loving it. I will say though that it takes a secound to get used to it but when you do it truly is a alot of fun.

I would recomend to anyone trying them out to do the avenger's trailer, cirque one and the ocean . If you do get one use your computer chair that turns to help with the immersion of the experience.

CV1 brought out. I guess they're partnering with Microsoft or something and are making the xbox one controller their input solution.

I'm laughing at it and the people that are super pissed about it.

Them working with Microsoft to make the integration with windows10 non-shitty is a good thing. I knew that most VR games aren't going to be built with a mouse in mind, but I'd rather have a gamepad than some wii-mote like solution.

Nevermind, here's their new input solution:

It'll be sold after launch sometime, I bet it'll be expensive. I doubt I'll bother getting it.

Sony announcing they're adopting Valve's platform sure would be polarizing.

Why would they do that? They are using the Morpheus.

What would be polarizing would be if Valve starts directing its product toward linux and steamboxes.

Then you'd have:
windows/xbone: rift
ps4: morpheus
linux: vive.

I think instead Vive will be primarily windows as well. And I'm hoping the work that OVR will do to properly integrate with windows10 will also help the vive and other VR devices.

If you are really into VR, you know everything is just launching way too early for entertainment.

Been following this for awhile now, and listened to a really good show on this today.

Pixeless VR will have to be 8k, and 4k isn't even a viable option for another 3 years. So yeah... we got awhile to wait for really good VR, at 60fps.

I can see this being much more exciting for hobbyists tho, since they can do interesting stuff with the tech being so affordable (drones etc). That was always the case tho even with stuff like the Kinect.
