Apparently the EU doesn't have as strict regulations on nitrous oxides which are the problem here. Apparently this is also why in NA we don't see the 40-50 mpg diesels.Diesel will still be the only option in some countries. Try driving around south america or parts of africa without a diesel. There are places where I don't think they even fucking sell regular gas. But diesel in places like the states on things that aren't semis or serious work trucks? The death toll is ringing.
This is also going to be a legal nightmare for VW. The US caught them, but I doubt the EU is going to give VW a free pass for this. Additionally, there will probably be some class action false advertisement suits that arise from this, along with a huge shock to the brand name that will take a while to sort out. 20% cap seems a bit light on the impact side. I wouldn't be surprised to see VW slide even more in the coming months.
This is actually a good point.Fuck VW and their maintenance costs.
For GM? Fine was $927M and current CEO has only been with the company for a few years.I think the final toll was like 50 at around 3 billion to settle, all while the ceo is getting 10 mill a year in compensation? Not looking it up but I'm confident it's fubar
He was killed some three days later when his shopping cart, unable to brake, collided with a decorative display stack of Coca Cola 12 packs.I wonder how many people died while congress was trying to scold Toyota over "mysterious" acceleration.
This just seems like a continuation of that, shitty politics protecting shitty American companies. These pollution standards have zero to due with health and everything to due with keeping better performing cars out of this country so shity companies like GM dont die a second time.
Wonder what happened to this retard?

Already one lawyer is starting a class action suit.Ouch. Will be interesting to see which cost them more fines from government agencies or people suing for being mis-lead/false advertisement. Especially as this wasn't some faulty part or oversight.
Current owner here and I do have a curious work around. I'm not going to take it in for the recall. If we take it in for other service and they do it despite us telling them not to, that's when we might consider suing. How will the current owner react to it? They might come with an interesting work around and I'm really curious to find out.
