Pro tip for supreme jerk, save often, always rush for the highground, don't get hit early or atleast have Angela tank everything at the start. Frog will murder your squad, animal whisper it instead.

I hate difficulty systems that make you weaker instead of actually making the game itself more difficult. Ranger gives you -25% damage and Supreme Jerk is -50%, which makes it so unappealing to me. I'd rather play Seasoned with a 4-man party and keep the game challenging that way.

Also, what's the point of having more than one point in Surgeon? I'm level 20 now and still haven't found any medicine objects that require more than 1 in the skill, unlike the Field Medic objects which require a little more with each tier. I always leave my Surgeon skill at 1 and don't see what I'm missing out on except the ability to occasionally heal some random dude around the world, like the guy in the Ranger Citadel's infirmary, which just gives a little exp.

There are higher level trauma kits that recover 75 and 100% of con on revival at like 4 and 7? at least that's what I can tell you so far. They are a reasonably powerful tool when having to scramble in fights from downed state. And like all skills, there are a few plot solutions that you cannot pursue from the medical angle, but that's like many skills.

One change from the beta that i disliked is weapon itemization. You can pretty much buy the weapons sold in the Citadel and you'd be set till the second part of the game.

Go fight the frog on supreme jerk and tell me that it's not more difficult (don't tell me that the frog does 30dmg per hit twice per turn on easy). Outgoing Damage is normalized based on weapon. Mob HP/Dmg goes up, chests drop less loot etc.

This game is far too easy on anything but Supreme Jerk.

And even on Supreme Jerk I'd be willing to say that once you get past the first major story set the game becomes pretty trivial for a while. I'm tempted to restart the game and go Supreme Jerk no save-cheesing.

When I play a game like wasteland 2 the combat for me isn't the point, or even the best part of the game. Its not a game I go to looking for a challenge. The challenge to me is to try and uncover as much dialog as exists in the game and see what kind of resolutions are possible to the story - read everything. I save scum a bit to explore different dialog tree options and float a pile of skill points to see what non-combat solutions are possible even on skills I don't have represented in my party. I'm playing on ranger, largely because I just want to be forced to pay attention to my combat choices and I feel like I personally get a little more mileage playing on hard on just about every game I buy - but that point is not the reason that I play any game like this. Wasteland and games like it don't need to be hard to be good, that's not why they are good in the first place.

You can't buy a visual chose your own adventure novel better than this style of game up to this point, that's why I can't get enough of them. I hope people pick this game up and play it on easy just to see it and read and experience the story. I find discussion of difficulty to miss the point, but its cool that they offer 4 difficulties so that if people want to read a casual novel they can, and if they want to have a hardcore min/max system grind inside a sweet story you can find that too.

I do all that above but on ultra hard so I still get that challenge. Save-scumming is a bit lame, I did it on the frog because it was wiping my whole group on Supreme Jerk. I still read all the intel reports and let the dialogues play out and full clear zones.

I just do it knowing that if I hit a mine I'm totally screwed. I like the punishment factor of not being careful.

This probably isn't the game to have the Hardcore>Softcore debate on so I don't really want to read people in here shitting on either playstyle.

Anyone experiencing the reloading bug? I just equipped Pills with a great handgun but it says I'm permanently out of ammo. The same thing happened with one of Cold Eye's sniper rifles but that fixed itself somehow.

Silly question but are you sure you have the correct ammo type? Not all pistols/sniper rifles etc use same ammo type.

LOL I'm such a moron. I thought ammo was classified solely by weapon type. I didn't realize there were different calibers. Thanks.

Spent 350 scrap on an Uzi cuz it was a huge upgrade only to find out I needed 9mm and not the stuff that was regularly dropping. Bummer..

And now you can enjoy the top jamming gun in the game too!

Haha love the Uzi but it jams constantly.

Buy 150+ 9mm rounds from the Citadel and you are gtg. Didn't really find any better SMG than the Uzi in Arizona, so i think it's worth it. Which brings me to a point i previously made: weapon itemization is shit, you can buy stuff in the Citadel like the Bullpup rifle, M16, Uzi and Pulse Rifle (even though Herbicide is probably better early on) and go all the way to Cali without the need to upgrade. At least in the beta there was some weapon progression.

I tried Supreme Jerk but it felt unfair. Next one down seems relatively hard and not abusive. I got raped by the rabbits in Ag center on supreme and said fuck it. Not fun.
