I played it for another couple of hours and did some more main storyline missions. Yeah, it never becomes more interesting. The cops are just annoying as fuck, the characters are wooden as fuck, the story is old and tired. "Hacking" is lame, the side missions aren't fun, none of it is compelling in any way. I regret paying $0 for this game.

I haven't gotten far at all, pretty much through the tutorial and back to my safe house but I'm not super impressed with how simple such a key portion of their game is (hacking) and how scripted I'm betting the missions are. Looking for a pop up to hit Q on isn't great game play and I don't believe it changes as the game progresses you just get more Q options.

Someone PLEASE explain to me about the first car chase

You have a successful tutorial mission, no one sees you, no one suspects you and you simply walk out with the crowd (past dozens of cops) and get in your car to drive off. Passing cops, people etc. Everyone is everywhere. Just as you pass the final cop on the way out of the "looking" bubble among other vehicles and pedestrians a cop randomly pulls a shot gun and goes Walker Texas Ranger on your ass and chase ensues.

Fucking really? You couldn't script that a little better and give them a reason to at least suspect you among the thousands of people?

I'll play it some more when I'm done playing Wofenstein. Not super impressed out of the gate though.

I noticed the same thing, it made no sense. It's also the first time you realize you can't hide from the police even if they don't actually see you run around eight corners and then hide in a back yard.

Good point. I forgot to mention that and its also completely retarded. Yet another thing they missed from GTA.

Welp these previews are enough for me to cancel. If it turns out to be amazing I'll buy it later.

It's weird, people on neogaf are generally pretty positive about the game, and everyone over here seems to be rather down on it. Don't know what to believe now.

I need a game to play on PS4. Like, one that actually make some use of the hardware, because I want to stress test this machine, to see if it isn't actually faulty (pretty paranoid about that kind of stuff). The only game I have at the moment is Rayman Legends. I wonder if I should go with watch dogs, or something else. It's either these two options, or waiting for The Last of Us or Destiny at this point.

It might get a ton better I've barely played out of the tutorial. Just that particular sequence pissed me off and made no sense. Maybe the hacking suddenly gets deeper besides camera hopping for some sort of visual LOS on your target which makes no sense what so ever given you're still physically far away from it and can still hack it.

You can instantly scan people as you mouse over them to know their innermost secrets, you can remotely hack their phones for money and such but you for some reason have to camera hop from camera to camera to find that control pad just on the other side of the locked door so you can hack it. You're obviously on the network, why you would need some kind of visual through a camera doesn't make sense to me.

Some of the other stuff like you see in the trailers is cool, just incredible simple.

Those who can't shake the cops well, that include using circle to hide in the back seat?

So like, if I really liked the single player in GTAV, but didn't like the multiplayer whatsoever (never gave it a chance to be frank, but whatever), is this game something for me?

Also, for the people who have played it already, how does the shooting and combat in general compare to GTAV?

Pretty much identical combat except you have quick takedowns in melee range. If you love GTA you will love this.

The problem there would be shaking them long enough to get somewhere that you can use circle to hide and have it actually work. And even if you do manage to do that, you have to deal with ctOS scans starting up almost immediately afterwards. Those seem to find you no matter what you do if you can't get out of the yellow circle before it fills up... and then the chase is on again.

It's still doable though, with a bit of luck. And imo having the thing to disable helicopters is a must. Nothing's more infuriating than finally pulling off a perfect focus+barrier move that wipes out all the cops chasing you only to have the fucking eye in the sky put 3-4 more on your ass again.

That said, it's still not as bad as GTA V cops. At least here you have hacking to get rid of them even if it doesn't always work out, and things don't seem to escalate if you take out too many cops without completely getting away.

As for the shooting compared to GTA V, you actually have to aim even with a gamepad. There's some aim assist of course, which can be turned off if you want, but it's still basically free aim. There's a strong version of aim assist that I haven't used, but I even with that I don't think it's like GTA V where all you had to do was hit L2 -> flick R-stick up -> boom headshot -> rinse and repeat. There's also a "focus" ability that is basically bullet time. Haven't used it much because I generally only use melee takedowns from stealth when I'm forced to fight.

I wouldn't recommend the game at full price, but I don't see myself regretting the $25 I spent on it. I'm at about 20% completion now, mostly from a LOT of side missions and about 75% of Act I.

I'm still getting it since I made over $200 at Target this week. I'll also be getting Mario Kart 8 too and I'm sure that game won't suck for sure.

And if you buy Mario Kart 8, register it on Nintendo's site (between May 30th and July 31st). It'll give you access to download either Super Mario Brothers U, Pikmin 3, Zelda: Legend of the Windwalker or Wii Party U for free.

meh glad i pirated this game before i bought it, starting to really loathe it and not sure i will keep playing until they put out a lot of patches. being chased by the cops sucks for all the reasons said, and car control feels a bit wonky (with controller). can't really go fast or you pretty much have no control at all.

i also really, really hate how the only way to save your game is to sleep in a bed in your crib. on the plus side alt-f4 exits right away so after the 10th time you have failed something because your ford pinto explodes after hitting a guard rail, you are out of the game immediately

definitely some lag issues with nvidia cards, i assume some new driver updates will come out next week to fix most of em though

Played a few hours tonight. Really uninspiring gameplay - like someone else said - where is the game they showed at E3?! This piece of shit is nothing like I imagined it'd be, or how they portrayed it. No wonder it was delayed so much.

All this shit about cops seeing you through line of sight and generally being a pain in the ass to lose really concerns me. I cancelled my pre-order. Oh well.
