Spending 10x as much on jeans as necessary to convince yourself you're above veblen consumption is the probably the most retarded.

Bought a Pebble Steel (not time steel) - leather band looks good, I bought the silver metal bracelet and it looks like terribad 80's CASIO. Its e-ink and the clock face is always on so you can tell time with the darn thing w/o pokeing it. It does basic notifications fine so I can see if its a email/text/call I need to worry about and it way better than grabbing the darn phone every time it beeps or buzzes.

Movado store had an automatic museum on sale for 500$ @ the outlet I almost pulled the trigger on - was beautiful but the band was way too small (leather strap) and they wouldn't swap it out because it is the outlet... wtf? lol

It is for when you step out of your overpriced luxury vehicle you can still convey to people you blow your money on things to try and impress others with your money
One could argue that luxury cars are objectively better though; more horsepower, better suspensions, bigger brakes, etc - they actually DO something. I'd agree with you if you buy the more expensive vehicle simply because it's more expensive. But if you buy the better vehicle to get the better features, then no.

With watches (and jewelry in general) it seems like the features are basically the same (and cheaper watches often have way MORE features) but the other ones cost more so they are "better".

So after long consideration i stopped by the Tag dealer in the local airport and bought a Carrera automatic day-date watch. Got a really good discount due to the Eid Holiday and since they didn't have a metal band in stock i bought the blue gator skin and talked them into sending me a metal band in the mail for free. total cost was $1600, i'm pretty happy with my purchase. In sure it wasn't overpriced at all, buying it in an airport...WTF. That's the last place I would buy anything, other than maybe a Casino gift shop. Had to have been marked up about 300%

To be fair the watch retails for $2400 and even on Amazon its $1900, i got a $300 band thrown in for free. i Feel like i got a good deal

Yea, I bought my Tag at London Heathrow duty free at the airport and even with the USD to GBP it was slightly under the going price. Unfortunately that watch sits collecting dust these days as I wear my Omega Planet Ocean 24/7 now.

bought a "genuine fake" rolex for $100 the guy told me if i could find a difference in the photos of an actual one and this one he'd give it to me. i was impressed at what a knock off it was, kinetic powered instead of automatic obviously. He even gave me a "fake registration card" with serial numbers listed that match the watch.

take a crack at it let me know if you guys see anything different in the two.

The only episode of PawnStars that's useful is the one where he teaches the son or friend - whatever - how to spot fake ones... you wont, in pictures be able to tell the fake from the real... 90% of the time with a good fake you wont be able to tell from 5ft and the really good ones you wont tell unless you take it off and hand it over for inspection. I would love to buy a nice fake for 100$ :p and not just because ROLEX - as I would be dumb to show it off... but because it would just make a nice looking watch.

whatever the diver band 10-20-30-40 thing is called- font is ever so slightly different and the dashes/dots are ever so slightly different. and the wording on the face - the top wordings on the fake are 3 lines vs 2. Can I haz free watch now? I am sure people actually familiar with rolex watches can spot more actual tell signs moreso than me.

yea it's all probably minor font changes that sets the 2 apart.

It also helps if i post the correct comparison photo =/

It's called a p51, it's "made" from the car and it has a Japanese movement? Maximum American marketing.

It just doesn't look very everyday wearable. I think you'd be better served sinking $750 into just a standard looking watch. It doesn't even say where final assembly is done which would lead me to believe China.

Just added the Citizen Eco drive. Pretty slick, have to read the manual over to know how to use everything.
Main reason being is the Tudor is obviously what it is, but generally I don't wear "time peices" on the weekend and never overnight. So I have another choice for those times that I do, that doesn't need winding. Been trying to find a automatic winder but they are either the price of a decent watch or reviews say that they die in a month.

I'm getting a little more into crowded watches but god damn that citizen is busy.

Ended up buying a hamilton for myself. Like it so far, don't feel it on my wrist anymore which sometimes causes instances of panic.
