In central Florida. Can only hope it quickly loses power upon landfall.

That is the forecast, but apparently it will hit some wind sheer before making eye contact on Florida. A CAT3 will still be a major problem.

What are you talking about? This thing will be a cat 4 by 2pm est
And its going to most likely weaken before landfall. As storms go up the scale then tend to weaken and grow. They don't just hit Cat 5 and boom, max level.

Supposed to hit at Cat 3 currently. I got a ton of messages for Helene. None for Milton so far. Guessing it's media coverage based.

The real problem would be if the models were wrong about the effect of the wind sheer before land fall. Then you have an absolute disaster hitting Florida. As it is, its still probably going to wreak some havoc.

Any bets for reaching CAT 5 strength?

Yeah the way it was evolving and the area it is in just screamed CAT5 potential. Now the "real" question. How bad can it grow?

PS--- Oh Fuck..

If I were in that path, I would leave at this point. Button up where you live as best as you can and just get the hell out.

Georgia. We just had the eye of one go over us. Got lucky as hell because Helena clicked East just as it made land fall so Athens GA avoided the worst of it.

As of now they have it going right through Siesta Key which is about as bad as it gets for me with surge. Leaving Tuesday to go to Homestead, fucking dealing with this after being the landfall of Ian. NOT doing that again.
The weather guy specifically called out Siesta Key to consider evacuating. So good move on you.

If you can leave, leave.

I told my wife she should stay in Louisiana. But she insisted on being here with me for this. Thankfully we are inland so we will probably lose power for a horrendous amount of time again but not much else. We are fairly high up for flooding. It would have to be biblical for that.

Its a perfect time to show her the proper method to bring in and store patio furniture.
