Track has shifted down south of Tampa slightly. Winds have cut down significantly. Morning 's model has it weakening a bit more, cranking back up and then weakening again as it makes landfall hitting at around 125 mph.

It looks like it will hit midway between low and high tides.
but will mar a largo be ok?

Imagine being in a tesla and trying to get out of dodge. And good luck charging it for the month it's going to take them to restore the power grid.

I guess you could load a diesel generator in the trunk lol.
Typical “idle” draw is 1kw/h or less. As long as you were were charged up, not a big deal.

Believe it or not, sitting in traffic uses almost zero power. Unlike ICE, it only uses juice when its doing something. During the blizzard a few years back that shut 1-95 for 24 hours with thousands stranded, the Teslas were the only ones still functioning.

Intresting, how does heat or AC work with no power draw?

They don't obviously. in the VA example, Tesla have heat and they have electric seat warmers. The seat warmers draw next to no juice and keep your body decently warm. That's what you would do in that example. In the FL example, you just open the windows and don't run the AC. Environmentals (especially the electric heater) are major charge hogs.

When you are just sitting in gridlock, the motor/motors aren't drawing charge since the wheels aren't turning. Turn off the environment controls and basically the only draw is the entertainment system and with a 100kw battery you could watch Netflix or listen to the radio for weeks.

Fake news. The ICE cars were refueled on the spot from tankers and people walking around with fuel cans. No tesla was recharged with a bucket of electricity. They have to be towed.

And with 10s of thousands all evacuating at the same time where are you going to find enough charging stations to tow them to?

Cars were stuck on I95 because it was impassible due to the blizzard but you think they magically had tanker trucks appear and fueled all the ICE vehicles?

For those without hurricane experience, we say storms have a good side and a bad side. Its because of the circular nature of how the storm works. If you are to the right of the eye (from its direction of movement) you are on the bad side. The left is the good side. Look at the size of the storm above the eye (to the left) and below it (to the right). Uncle Miltie is gonna fuck up the SW coast all the way to Naples but to the north they probably wont notice much north of Spring Hill.

What's the wind speed doing? Seemed like it was coming back down from 180 or whatever?

Weather Underground is keeping their frontpage updated with direct links to The Weather Channel's page on Milton:
With a script blocker, The Weather Channel's main page isn't bad either, but dunno how shitty it is without NoScript:
