Not a single useful thing on there for myself, but yes, those are some pretty stupid myths people buy into.

To clarify, it's not that fat makes you fat. We all know this, overeating makes you fat. The thing to remember is a g of fat is 9 calories vs. prot/carbs which are 4. Big difference, and the calories can pile on quickly, even if you're eating so called "healthy" fats like avocado and nuts.

The Master, were you the guy in Colombia drinking all the coffee? Is that why everything has salt in it?

But seriously, salt just makes things worse typically, however maybe I'll try some tomorrow with salt in it.
No idea who that is. You can go Google it, salt blocking the taste receptor for bitterness is a well documented scientific fact. It also increases the taste of other receptors, so it'll make sweet things taste sweeter, etc.

I wasn't arguing that so we're clear, I was just saying that's not how it works with me unfortunately.

My ex put salt on her yogurt, which I thought was disgusting. I always put sweet things in mine. Is that related?

I'm about a month in trying to loose weight. Still not eating great but not eating near as much shit which is helping, along with the working out. I'm still hanging around 195 lbs but I look a lot better(IMO). Lost about 2" on my waist line (just estimating from wearing my belt comfortably 2 notches lower). My face looks noticeably skinnier as well. I'm fine staying at 195 as long as I gain some muscle and lose fat.

Later today is my legs, lower back, traps and shoulders workout that includes squats AND dead lift. Fucking brutal.

I think someone should make a workout thread so we can stop shitting up this thread with our gym activities.
If it works for you, then fine, but I would never squat and dead lift on the same day. I usually went squats then half a week later would dead lift

For carbs to make one fat, they would need to work in concert with a poor diet and lack of exercise which makes those latter two more readily blamed
Sounds like, for many Americans, that would apply. Fatty Americans that eat a poor diet, probably full of carbs, and are unwilling to exercise should try to avoid incidental carbs.

Today I felt like I was going to fall the fuck out at the gym. I'm getting over a cold and haven't been to the gym since last Tuesday and tried to pick up right where I left off. I was able to get through the routine, but for the first time probably ever I felt like I was about to pass out after I was done. drinking some water and 5 minutes of walking made it better. Not a lot of fun.

Should probably go in Arkk's thread, but it kind of depends on where you are in your lifting progress. For a beginner, you're ok squatting and deadlifting often. I started with Starting Strength and on alternate weeks that meant squats and deads in the same day, twice a week. That would fucking kill me now though. But that's a function of a beginning lifter mostly making neurological gains. My current lifts take me a good 4-5 days just to recover, especially the bigger compound lifts like squats and deads (presses I can deal with better). As is, I have to take breaks every once in a while just to let my ligaments and tendons recover.

That doesn't concern you a bit? Kind of sounds like concussions/brain damage for football players(as in, collateral damage). Worth it? I've heard horror stories of peoples' ligaments or tendons snapping while working out and the muscle curling up underneath the skin. But even if that doesn't happen, does ligament and tendon recover like muscle does? Or are you inviting early arthritis?

Those question are earnest, btw, I could easily be talking out my ass. But I have concerns about my own weight lifting when things other than my muscles start to hurt.

Yeah, idk, if it took me 5 days to recover from lifting I would assume I had injured myself. I was never a big lifter, though, so I don't have a lot of experience with that.

Well you are apparently some kind of mutant (kidding). But there are actually advances being made in various tasteless bitter blockers. They are kind of a holy grail in food manufacturing. Most of them aren't for sale by themselves unfortunately, but now I am actually curious and might look into it. See if any of the miracle stuff like Adenosine Monophosphate is available for sale by itself as a food additive.

When I was lifting hard and heavy it could take awhile to recover. The key thing I pulled away was that everyone recovered differently. We knew people that could lift and then in 2 days feel great, personally for me it depended on the exercise. Biceps I could never really target hard enough to get a good sore going. Chest was always the worst, no matter how hard or light I did my chest felt like shit for like 4 days afterwards. Squats and deadlifts were bad too, but that was a combo of walking on said legs all day after as well. If pain afterwards is an issue, try to increase your protein intake and also your rest. Sleeping is one of the most overlooked parts of bodybuilding.

I miss weightlifting, I have to get back in there.

Itlan, this is your warning to troll elsewhere. I've let a few other posts of yours slide buy in here and in the grown up forums but no more trolling. It's fine to joke around once in awhile but take the trolls to other parts of the forum please.

Thank you.

It's interesting to see the different reactions to this:

Hot Mom Defends Herself Against Facebook Haters | Parenting - Yahoo Shine

A California fitness enthusiast and mother of three is defending a controversial photo of herself that has prompted a cavalcade of Facebook critics to accuse her of fat shaming women.

In the photo, seen at left, 32-year-old Maria Kang poses in a workout bra and matching micro shorts ? revealing an incredibly toned figure with washboard abs ? while surrounded by her three young sons, now 1, 3 and 4. Floating above her head is the question, ?What?s your excuse??

The picture has gone viral, with more than 16 million views on Facebook, and has generated more than 12,000 comments. And while much of the input has been of the supportive ?you go, girl? variety, plenty of it has been made up of angry, offended personal attacks on the photo subject, calling her everything from ?obnoxious? and ?fake? to a bad mom and a bully.

But Kang, in an exclusive interview with Yahoo Shine, says that making other women feel bad about themselves is the opposite of what she was going for.

?I wanted to inspire people,? she explains, adding that the ?What?s your excuse?? part was simply a borrowed, popular phrase that?s been used in various ?fitspiration? campaigns. ?I wanted to say, ?I know you think you don?t have time if you have kids. But if I can do it, you can do it, too.??

Kang, of Sacramento, California, is a former pageant queen and fitness competitor who founded the nonprofit Fitness Without Borders in 2007. She's also a recovering bulimic. Kang says she understands why some people reacted so defensively. ?I think people struggle with their weight,? she notes.
