I've been doing Nutrisystem for two weeks. I'm 6'2", and was 288 when I started. I've lost 9 pounds so far, and am pretty happy with it. The first week was the Fast 5+ program, which had me on 1000 calories a day. The second week, I was on the regular program which bumped the calories up to 1500 per day. The food ranges from good, to edible, but the meatloaf with mashed potatoes is the only thing I would never want to eat again. You are supposed to have 4 serving of veggies a day on top of the food they send you. Not getting enough veggies was one of my issues before.

Part of the program is keeping a food journal. I would recommend this to anyone, as I never realized how much I was actually eating before. I haven't felt hungry since the first day, and then only when it was time to eat again, anyway.

That's crazy to me. 288 and you're full of 1000 cals? I literally eat more than that per meal (bullking near 4k atm).

Good luck on your journey man. I'd recommend educating yourself regarding nutrition and trying to change your lifestyle and not relying on a "system."

He mentioned he's eating a lot of veggies in addition to the plan calories, and you can really fill your stomach up with tons of veggies without adding more than a few hundred calories onto your daily total.

I agree with Itlan: make sure you keep doing your food journal and have a plan to move off of Nutrisystem at some point in the future into a more sustainable lifestyle of healthier eating (i.e., nutritious food, reasonable portions). I know a lot of people like to hate on stuff like Weight Watchers and Nutrisystem, but I think they're a good first step towards understanding why you're overweight and how much food you actually need every day to feel satisfied without gaining weight. The problem with these kinds of programs comes when people don't know what to do when they stop eating the planned meals, and they lose all their progress.

It's great that you're accurately keeping a food diary, because that is probably the most useful thing anyone can do to try and get a handle on their food intakes.

Maybe he's eating like a pound of celery a day!
I had some pooper stoppage a while back due to a multi-day binge-eating spree, so I spent a few days eating celery nonstop throughout the days to try and get things moving again. While it kinda sorta worked, I think I started running into other intestinal issues as a result of all that celery. Moral of the story: abuse celery in moderation

While not the intended effect, I have found Xanthan Gum to assist pushing through anything pending in the bowels. I didn't read how little needed to be used and boy did my stomach make some weird sounds for the next day.

Just smelling celery makes me gag. A whole can of green beans is only 70 calories, and a can of sliced carrots is 105. I did cheat a bit the first week. My totals for each day were 1008, 1087, 1286, 1148, 1197, 1065, and 1027. I was also drinking 64 ounces of water a day. I don't know how much that contributed to me not being hungry. Also, they space the meals and snacks out so that you are eating every 2 to 3 hours.

I am starting to figure out portion size, so that I can keep the weight off long term. I did Atkins about 12 years ago, and got under 200 pounds for the only time in my adult life. At 190, my Mom and a couple of her sisters starting ganging up on me with the whole "you look sick, you need to stop that diet thing!" So I stopped, and slowly put all the weight, plus some on. Made myself a promise a long time ago that I would never hit 300.

Most people don't know what a healthy weight/body fat percentage looks like nowadays. I've gotten the same thing from family members. Don't let them pressure you into putting weight back on.

Depending on frame, 6'2" would be pretty average to "lean" looking at 190lbs. It really depends on your muscle mass and overall frame type. Like if someone with Z-WizardHawk's frame was 190 at his height, he'd probably look pudgy as shit due to his lack of muscle mass. Whereas someone with a reasonable amount of muscle on them would look trim, and someone with a wide frame would look kind of shredded. I've started not to look at weight as a reasonable measurement unless it really is excessively big, like 300lbs+ in the last decade. Even buff dudes/dudettes are chunky/soft looking at that weight, while giving a number like "I'm 5'6" and 160, I look fat!" means that a lot more has to do with how that 160 is arranged on the frame, not the number itself. It is why I like bodyfat% as opposed to BMI for target goals, as that directly relates to how much of your mass is fat vs. how much your mass relates to your height/weight/age.

Yea, body fat % definitely a better metric.

Bodywhat consistently shows me around 16-19% bodyfat for the different photos I've plugged into it over the past year, which really is just about the absolute maximum of where I think a guy can be and still be considered healthy... In my "best" photo which I got just after I had started IF again, and was being really gungho about my diet, it pegs me at 16%... I'd like to see if I can't get down to 10% though.

Taking a photo of myself AFTER I had already lost almost 30 lbs, back 3 years ago. Weighing 220lbs... it estimates me at 23% bodyfat. I wish I had taken a body photo of where I was 250... would have been disgusting.

may 2015 progress vs. a couple months after I quit drinking pop | BodyWHAT

I improved my shoulder to waist ratio by 7%... I'm curious to see what dropping 10 more lbs will do to my waist, maybe I can get closer to the "magical" 1.6 ratio, seems like my lovehandles will be the last thing to go, hopefully shrinking my waist that last little bit.

I'm currently sitting at about 210... I'm curious what that looks like in most of your heads. I'm 6'0 for reference.

207.4 as of this morning. I do not remember the last time I saw a weight under 210 pounds. As far as I'm concerned I never was. In 2002 I was 300 pounds. 4 years ago I was 265 pounds. So yeah I'm really fucking psyched at the progress I'm making.

Some of this is strange, I am like 6'2 and 215. I've held this weight since I was 17 (28 now). Although I had some dips during deployments while I was in the Army. At 192 I was downright skeletal.

In general I eat well, run 20 or so miles a week. Bike 30-40 on Sundays and swim for my fitness routine. I despise weights but am fond of isometric fitness at home when I'm doing nothing.

My absolute peak fitness I was 208 when training for a Half-Ironman. But that shit consumed my life and I went back to doing Olympic distance triathlons.

With that sort of routine, you'll never pack on size. Like you said, 192 you'll be lean as fuck but nothing to show for it.

Keep in mind everybody's frame is different which has a huge impact on the ideal weight for their height.
