Oh, man. This thread is going to be really bad during this show, isn't it? I can't wait!
That's exactly the reason I posted my spoiler image above. This is going to be fucking Lost all over again.

If there's a fucking polar bear, I'm out!

I could be wrong, but I doubt Dolores is 30 years old. Pretty sure back then they were using the older models like "Old Bill." Still, it's possible that she was around then and has just had parts upgraded/replaced, but it's usually more efficient to just build a new model.

To possibly refute my own statement, I just noticed that the title of the premiere is "The Original."

Edit: Yeah, I'm probably wrong, just rewatched the scene between Harris and Dolores, what he says to her does seem to imply that she's been around that long.

How the fuck do they repair the robots so quickly? Also, the economics of the park itself seem pretty unfeasible unless the visitors are paying shit tons of money.

My assumption is that it's closed down, or the relevant section anyway, when they collect bodies and bring them in for repair. Maybe it takes a couple days and we're just not seeing the repair process? Then again that one was getting built pretty fast during the "mistake" scene.

She was probably in the same "Old Bill" animatronic model line, but like that repair guy said, she's been rebuilt so much, she's practically brand new. She was probably constantly rebuilt and upgraded she acts like the newest models. Like a 486 with 16gigs of ram and a GTX 1080.

Rolling Stone had an article a couple issues back about them flipping the good/evil roles from the original to make the humans the shitty ones.

Interesting theory about everything being recorded, Lithose. Maybe that is what management's angle is, a classic godfather-style 'blackmail the powerful' scheme. "Do what we say or this recording of you raping a brothel full of whores goes public!"

This show seems more high-minded than that though, I'm betting management's goal is more like laying the groundwork for importing consciousness into robots to achieve immortality.

yeah.

Do we think Ford's actions/goals are with or at odds with the Boards?

Ford is waxing philosophical of nihilism, apex of man.. and, then adds secret code to robots, which seems to have "inadvertently" sparked awareness.
Board has its own purposes according to Cullen, that is not just amusement, nor lined up with the Goverment/military.

The government/military has theirs as well. now, 99.9% of scifi writers see the government as exclusively herr durr bombs/guns soldiers. So its doubtful they will have bothered to put any effort into making the government/military agenda as anything actually interesting.

If this tech exists, frankly it must be being used elsewhere, everywhere already.. deep sea exploration, space exploration, road work, electrical work, deep sea oil refineries, etc...

so yeah, the real question of advancement here is, immortality. Hybrid/cyborg, or copying the mind to a robot body, aka Ghost in the Shell. is that where this is going to go?

I bet the Man in Black is the equivalent of a computer glitch or virus, something made by the 'critical error' event 30 years prior. Someone who was literally lost to the narrative loop and got stuck inside it, a consciousness without a body (or a body the company was forced to keep locked away/plugged in somewhere.)

we never really learn Ford's motives. the character gets killed off as the host uprising is starting, and the rest of the scientists need to figure out how to fix things without his help.

Yeah that has to be the plot.

Hannibal Lecter put that "revelry" subroutine in the code that allows them to relive their prior lives so Dolores will realize her life is a lie and she isn't human but blah blah blah "What is human" Blah Blah Blah "Free will" season finally will end with her killing a human in self defense guaranteed.
