Missed this one. I thought they showed that Teddy is Wyatt?

Teddy's recollections of Wyatt were just warped a bit because he remembers mowing down the other town (presumably with Dolores, and possibly the other hosts that seem to be more sentient).

The blonde greeter chick I believe is sentient but was "killed" by the others. But she's further along in self actualization than the rest, which is why she told Teddy that maybe on the next go around he'd figure it out, and that the maze is for hosts and not guests,

Yeah, this is what I was thinking as well. I thought it was pretty evident that Teddy=Wyatt. What I don't get is that Ford only inserted the whole Wyatt backstory into his brain recently. Was this a call out to what he did before the park opened when he shot everyone in that town? Did Teddy and Dolores become self aware right from the beginning and planned to kill Arnold and everyone else together? LOTS of stuff still to get to. That episode was fucking awesome. I cannot wait until next Sunday for the season finale. It's gonna be epic.

I think Dolores is "Wyatt", and Wyatt shooting the General was her killing Arnold.

The blonde greeter chick I believe is sentient but was "killed" by the others. But she's further along in self actualization than the rest, which is why she told Teddy that maybe on the next go around he'd figure it out, and that the maze is for hosts and not guests,
Dialogue after remembering the "correct" version of the town events:

Teddy: "No. No, no I couldn't have"
Angela: "You did. And you will again. This time we'll be fighting with you. When Wyatt returns this time you'll be by his side in the city swallowed by sand."
(Man in Black reacts to the last part)
Angela: "But you're not ready. Not yet. Maybe in the next life."
(Angela stabs Teddy)

Teddy was obviously the shooter in Dolores vision, but his memory of it was rewritten by Ford as his backstory in another attempt to delete sentience. Wyatt's whole crew may be sentient hosts or gathered by sentients, but Angela recognized that Teddy hadn't broken free of his rewritten loop yet so she killed him in hopes he would in a later one. Strangely, that's exactly what Maeve is looking for.. a recruited army of hosts to aid in her attempt to escape. So it would kind of fit into the whole Maeve = Wyatt = new narrative bit.

If that's true, and MIB has to kill Dolores in order to finish "the maze," my head is going to explode.

Or it's the opposite. Dolores kills him to finish the maze.

Remember what the one Host said to him: "The maze isn't meant for you".

God damn! That would be perfect. Would explain why he doesn't care that the maze isn't for him, he wants to sacrifice himself to free Dolores!

really puts a bead on that conversation he had prior. "The maze isn't for you." "You just don't get it, do you? I ain't going back this time."

someone broached it earlier... but does Maeve = Wyatt? there was clearly some conflicting stuff going on with teddy, but i don't think he's wyatt. the greeter chick specifically said, when you come back you'll be fighting with him side by side.

also, i'm pretty sure ford's narrative at this point is the meta narrative. it's not about what going on IN the park. he excels at getting people to play along with whatever story he has in his head. in the past he's settled on hosts, but we already know he doesn't see a difference between hosts and humans. he's trying to get people who have no idea they are a part of a narrative play along as if they had a script.

I don't even understand *why* Ford would be behind Maeve's little rebellion. The only thing that would really make sense is if he was going to use it to solidify his power over the company in some way (like, prove he's the only one that can control them - or use them to overthrow the board), because everything he's said thus far goes against wanting the Hosts to explore their own consciousness.

Sometimes the best way to prevent some freedoms is to pull the strings and make giving such freedoms seem a dangerous thing.

So...I've basically guessed the entire plotline correctly at this point. That's disappointing.

I knew Bernard was an Arnold bot, that the maze was Arnold's hope to give the hosts sentience, and that Dolores was reliving her old timeline...oh, and even that Dolores is the one who killed Arnold.

Still to come: that Ford is a host as well, and that MiB is William. Oh, and Felix (Asian guy) is also a host.

The interesting part to me was the fact that MiB seems to know what the maze is (maybe?) but still wants to figure it out.

Edit: To address the above, I'm almost positive that Maeve's "off loop" is all part of Ford's plan.
it is time for you to stop guessing and enjoy the show like a normal pleb.

The best part about today's episode is it shuts up some of the dumb people in this thread.

After losing pace for a few episodes, I'm excited for the finale. Lots went on in Ep 9.

He had no choice. He had to bring it, so it could be found in a pile of cow shit 30 years later.

I took his having the picture for the very reason he used it. He had it to walk Billy away from the edge, so he wouldn't be culpable for busting up his sister's wedding, due to his pushing her fiancé into a vacation full of home wrecking schenanigans.

I loved the Bernard reveal but hated the conclusion. The "aha gotcha!" card that Ford played was very cartoon villain and lame. Another moment that fell flat (in anlready limping story arc) was the Maeve and Bandit Dude (keep forgetting his name sorry). I get needing to off yourself to go back to QA, but why not just shoot each other? Why go all HBO and have a fuck session while you are reduced to melted plastic and metal?

Still excited for the finale to see the Dolores pay off and to see if they tie up why Maeve played out like she did though.

Awesome episode overall. Like others have said. The story is good EXCEPT for the dumbass Maeve shit and I have always disliked the MiB = William storypoint. Mainly because of how it gets us there.

The reveals next week are really going to need to be absolutely exceptional because the odds are pretty weak at this point. If the Maeve thing is actually a rebellion going on. Then its dumb because of the mechanism used to get us there (shitty Techs with no oversight). If it is part of the new narrative like we're presuming. Which is the only thing it can be at this point. Then its also fucking dumb because there's nobody to witness this narrative.

If there's something beyond the game going on between Ford/The Board/etc. Then this needs to be spelled out because its only eluded as to what lies beyond the game. The Board wants Ford out. Got it. Ford won't just let that shit happen. So lets suppose that the "narrative" is actually a plot to create this rebellion crap in order to kill off the board or something. Merely another part of the narrative and him building something was just a distraction. That could be cool.a

I just have trouble seeing where they go after this season. If a rebellion goes on and they try and escape, then where do they start in a year?

Really enjoying it though.

They aren't escaping, no one is. Dolores doesn't even want to. UNLESS you get a small cadre of maeve's people leaving, but then end up realizing the world sucks and spend the season trying to get back in. But that's stupid.

The Maeve shit doesn't bother me as much now. The two techs are probably hosts or just two simpletons put in that position by Ford. Everything is known by Ford in that park and he is god and keeps reminding everyone of this fact. Now if suddenly we see that Ford didn't realize this was going on then that is Ha Monkey levels of fucking retarded.

I can easily see the story going in the direction that Ford looses control of Maeve and this whole uprising as they rewrite their code or something denying him access and I would be fine with that.

I'd imagine they'd start to explore the world outside of the park in subsequent seasons. There's been an entire storyline woven through this season regarding smuggling the Host code out of the park, and repeated references to the fact that Ford's little playworld is small beans compared to some of the broader applications of the technology.

Despite the wide-open expanses and landscapes portrayed in this season, the show does risk becoming claustrophobic if they don't find ways to branch out.

Look at a show like Lost (which I think has the most spiritual connection to Westworld of any show out there). Lost started as a handful of people crashing on what seemed like a small, remote island, and after only a few seasons we were getting large chunks of story taking place back on the mainland and overarching themes of corporate espionage, which then finally devolved into this bizarre, time-traveling, alternate universe insanity. Now, whether or not that was a good thing for Lost is in the eye of the beholder, but it's clear that some expansion of the setting needed to take place.
