Looks like we both took on shitty jobs at the same time!Fuck man, I hate this job. Fuck this.
The real problem is I'm tied down or else they'll want the sign-on bonus back for at least 1 yearLooks like we both took on shitty jobs at the same time!
Just 5.how many nuclear engineering programs are out there?
I'm in a financial position to take a pay cut. Having 2 incomes helps a lot. I'm always cautious so that's a given. My hospital isn't going anywhere financially. And IT is the one area they can't cut. We're going to a charting system called Epic this summer and they need all the help they can get. That certification can get you consulting jobs north of 6 figures for the folks that got into that. But we've had a help desk as long as I've been there for the last 10 year. That sounds like a good deal but a word of caution: look at outside jobs as well just to compare. I only say that because it seems like your total compensation for help desk is going to be higher than what you could command outside with similar experience. So let's say the worst thing happens and they cut your job two months in, would you be OK financially or find another job doing respiratory therapy to survive? Obviously you probably have some idea of company health/need in that position/how you will do with the management so you can see how risky it is or isn't. I've just seen a lot of people burned hard by grass is greener syndrome in the valley.
My entire job role is over my head.I was over my head the entire duration of working towards my BS in Comp Engineering. Even giving my final capstone presentation to the public, I felt over my head.
Epic. Yep checks out.I'm in a financial position to take a pay cut. Having 2 incomes helps a lot. I'm always cautious so that's a given. My hospital isn't going anywhere financially. My plan was to work this job 6 months to a year and either apply for a higher position with progressive responsibility or leave. Having health insurance and them paying for my school is incentive to stay for the time being. And honestly, help desk cannot be a shitty as my current job.
I think it was you that asked if my 65k salary included OT. That was just from my base and night shift differential.
Yea that sounds like a good deal then. If you can get some experience it's going to help a ton vs trying to shift fields in a new company. You are honestly lucky in that regard.I'm in a financial position to take a pay cut. Having 2 incomes helps a lot. I'm always cautious so that's a given. My hospital isn't going anywhere financially. Well yeah. I mean everytime there's a bug in our code (every. single. fucking. hour. of. every. single. day.) I usually have no idea where to even start. Just have to know to dig down into the code and go to town. It's not like I can go on the forums and be like "hey guys there's this weird BIOS bug anyone know where in the code it is?"My entire job role is over my head.
Being over your head is a good thing. How you learn, react and perform your job while being over your head determines where you are. Eventually, you will no longer before over your head and that's when it's time to start again.
Being in a comfortable position is how your abilities and growth becomes stale.
I'd use my wife's quote but that would be too identifiable.
