You don't want these two.. i ended up doing mine myself sometimes to spare the hassle.
I'm sure you could get some value work from our Houston office, they're hard up for work right now. Would be good shit for me to pull in work to the 70yo's president's home office from little ole West Virginia, too.
Thanks, but we don't contract out and require everyone on site and frequent field trips as well.

Well at least it's not a touching position. I have to admit I would have some concerns about that.

Yeah my spelling sucks since my ADEM episode and I can't feel my fingers anymore due to losing the lining of my nerves in areas like my fingers. Sorry, I try to proof read it a lot but online wth and just hit submit.

I always wanted to know what's the difference between being an attorney at the firm and Of Counsel?

Been working at a place part-time and doing a kickass job at it (while also working a 60-hour-a-week full-time job) and a full-time position finally opened at the part-time place. However, it seems they opened it up to external people, so now I have to jump through all the normal hoops for applying despite them literally seeing me several times a week for 3 years.

For example, they made me do a phone interview with a woman who I see routinely and with whom I'm on a first-name basis. Also, I have to give a demonstration of my work despite everyone associated with the hiring literally seeing my work countless times already.

Jimmies somewhat rustled for sure.

I had to do something similar at my old job... which was a non-profit. I got the job, well promotion really, but it was a new title/position that was created so they forced me to interview with everyone I had already worked with for 5 years because people complained that I was just given the job as a white male(seriously).

It left such a bad taste in my mouth I quit less than a year later.

Got a 4% raise for the year. On the one hand it's a raise, on the other hand some dude that started after me got promoted (in another department, but same job title) despite starting after me. Kind of makes me consider looking elsewhere now, just hit my 3 year anniversary.

Got a 5% raise last week after my boss and I transformed the IT department from a sinking ship to a billable enterprise for the company to their other offices. Jimmies are pretty rustled and if we don't end up moving to San Diego for my GF's new gig, I'm definitely finding a new employer.

There are different titles that give different status. At big firms, there's generally Partner/Principal (depending on whether it is an LLP or PC) these are the owners of the firm that run things.

There's associates, who are employees and generally on partner track - do well for X number of years and you have a chance to make partner.

There's staff attorneys who are like associates but not partner track. They're basically just employees.

And Of Counsel are similar status to junior partners but aren't owners/members of the firm; more like mercenaries for hire. It's a good status because you get a lot of the benefits of being a partner without the management/ownership hassle.

They may have to do all these hoops simply to cover their ass legally
