I took my kids (8/4yrs) to the dentist yesterday because my 8 year needed an optional procedure done. Because of COVID restrictions only 1 person is allowed back in the room with a minor, and since my 4 year old wasn't being seen by the dentist she wasn't allowed back. Their lobby was also closed so I was told I had to wait outside or let one of their staff babysit my 4 year old outside. Meanwhile there was a lady allowed to use the lobby with 2 kids while her third was being seen by the dentist. The difference as to why she could wait in their lobby... all of her kids were seen by the dentist and one of mine wasn't. Even after she left, they still wouldn't let me wait inside.

That sucks. My dentist allows the lobby to be used, but we all have to wear masks until we are in our assigned rooms. They also take your temp before taking you back, and swish for 30 seconds with hydrogen peroxide.

Are you saying your kid had to wait outside or in the lobby?

Outside only, I was given the following options while my 8 year old was back there:
  1. Wait outside with my 4 year old (what I ended up doing after a mild argument)
  2. Go back with my 8 year old while one of the employees went outside with my 4 year old
  3. Reschedule
I just found it ridiculous that my 4 year old wasn't allowed back into a closed off room with the reason "because COVID". On top of that, another person was allowed to use the closed lobby with her two kids while waiting for the third that was around 12. Why not make her wait outside as well? Then when that lady left I asked if I could wait in the now empty lobby and they refused. Their logic was, that the only non-patients allowed in the building were 1 parent of a patient. Since my 4 year old wasn't being seen on that day they refused to let her stay inside.

My wife ended up calling them today and complaining. They claimed to be sorry but they seemed pretty unsympathetic during this event.

Yeah we have similar shit happing with hockey. If your kid is on the ice, you can have one parent in to watch. No siblings. So parents that have one 10 year old with a practice at 6pm, and a 12 year old with a practice at 7 have to sit in the parking lot with their kid who isn't playing at that time. Parents sitting in a parking lot for 2 hours with grumpy kids is a real pain in the ass. I understand the reasoning behind it, but it's just a major pain in the butt.

I don't understand the reasoning behind any of that bullshit. fred sanford (great name btw!) brought his kids together, and they live in the same home, and almost 100% are around each other constantly throughout the day without masks. As they are also around him. lurkingdirk brought his kids together too, same deal. They are all exposed to each other constantly throughout the day. If one person in their family gets it, all of them are going to get it, most likely. So what good does it do for the parent to sit in the car with one of them, then switch to sitting in the car with the other one? I bet the moment they get in the car, the masks come off too, right? Because you're around each other all day at home without masks, why wear them in the fucking car?

This is nothing but bullshit posturing for virtue signal points by businesses, in my opinion of course. I get it that you don't want a waiting room full of people, and you have to draw the line somewhere...but both of those situations are nowhere near where I'd draw that line. In theory, in both situations, the adult could have sat in the waiting room while your other kid sat in the car (let's skip the fact that a 4 year old would be in the car alone, assume she's older for this example), but at least in the hockey example, BOTH kids would have also been present at some point in the facility, just not at the same time, so if somehow only one of them had it, they were still allowed inside. And I'm assuming they would all have their temps taken and wear masks, so what's the fucking point?

Like I said, just seems like virtue signaling bullshit to me. Look at us, we're restricting who comes in, we're safe!! Fuck off, half the people you let in probably wear their mask under their nose anyway, right?

My guess is that it's more like "follow the arbitrary rules set by the state government or they push our shit in".

Sorry but youre a brain dead sheep if you think any of these corona restrictions or rules do anything. It comes down to two things;

1) Placating the braindead sheep of the world and make it look like the government is doing things to "protect" you

2) Grabbing as much power as possible

I think you skipped a couple

3) Tanking the economy to hurt Trump's chances at re-election

4) Coop people up and make them desperate so they will riot at the drop of a hat to hurt Trump's chances at re-election.

I do understand the reasoning at the rink. Siblings are notoriously pains in the ass in the arena. They don't sit still. They run around. They play hockey in the halls. They go in the locker rooms. They're all over the place. I know that sounds silly, just make the parents take care of the kids, right? Wrong. It seems to be part of hockey culture that this is a truism. If there are younger/older kids in the rink, they're going to be fooling around. The rink administrators are having none of it. They want to control people movement. No kids who aren't playing in the building. Period.

The truth is that we're right on the hairy edge of a shutdown. If not a total shutdown, then certain things. Hockey will be one of the things shut down. Therefore do all the things. Ban siblings. Tell parents to be smart. I understand that because if they shut them down, there's no income. I'm not saying this is good, or smart, or anything. I'm saying I understand their reasoning for making these rules. They're doing everything they can.

Signed up for lessons at Golftec because my ridiculous inconsistency finally drove me insane. Was supposed to have my first session today and it got canceled due to 1 of the trainer's wives catching a positive covid diagnosis

Maybe I'm a bit slow here, should I have said she tested positive or what?

You said it perfectly fine for what this shit is. You catch a diagnosis and sit on your ass for 2 weeks waiting to catch your next diagnosis. Very few people catch the actual disease.

But but but
All those people Trump killed!
Think of the kids who only have a 99.99% survival rate (CDC numbers btw)!
