My phone died thursday. It went dark and wouldn't come back on. When i charged it, it never showed any indication it was charging. Couldn't get the reset to do anything either. Kinda pissed me off, but I had to travel friday. So I ordered a new phone (exact same model) and grabbed my previous phone. I still use my previous phone occasionally because it has a couple of apps I never loaded on the new phone. I should have been able to just plug the sim card in and had a temp phone. But that phone wouldn't power up either. It's acting the same as the main phone that just shit the bed. I had to travel like I was on a goddamn wagon train headed to oregon. Tuning into random radio stations as I approach each settlement. Navigating with mapquest instructions. Fucking bullshit man.

out last night with 2 old friends that had not seen in a year. after about 5 beers, one of them talks about getting dwi, spending 5 days in jail and month in rehab.

Last week dry winter weather + a bunch of cleaning/manual labor made the skin on my thumb crack open extending from the edge of the nail. 2 days after it heals I’m rushing to peak an orange for my daughters lunch, a hard edge of the peel jams into the same thumb, under the thumbnail, 3 times. Yesterday, I feel a tin splinter in the index finger adjacent the aforementioned thumb, feels like it’s getting infected in the evening. Wake up with what looks like a zit in the middle of the pad of the finger. Finger is a little stiff and hot at the end. I lance the infection zit and squeeze the fuck out it. It’s better but will be a few days until it’s healed up.

Each of these are annoying as hell, I’ll forget about it and then it’ll get bumped or I’ll grab something and it’ll hurt enough to catch me off guard and illicit some profanity.

Went with the wife to a hole in the wall diner very near my house. Walking distance even. Very reasonable prices too and good food. They have a great BBQ sandwich and I had a craving for one. Go there and there is a sign on the door saying 'NO FOOD'. Not good , read the rest and it says they were not opening until noon and it would be a limited menu. OK we'll see if we can make it work. Go in , sit down near the server station. Get menus find out what we can get. Good to go , then I happen to look up and see a fucking COCKROACH crawling up the wall at the servers station. Waitress comes up to see what we want and I point to the roach. She says 'that's not good, what can I get you'? I said really loud so everyone could hear 'I can deal with a limited menu but not with cockroaches' and got the fuck outta there. Thankfully NV has a way to report to the health department 24/7. Sucks we cannot go back now but fuck bugs.

I bought some shaving soap , like you put in a cup and use with a brush. Look it up on Amazon find what I bought last time. They come in 4 packs , says I could get it next day - cool. So I decide to get two of them , that moves delivery to 2 days. WTF?

Soap didnt come in a plastic case you can use in a pinch? Just throw it in a food bowl. Your local warehouse likely was down to the last one, needs to reload from the regional./

Kinda first world issue, one whole whopping day. Not like those times when it jumps to 2 weeks.

So... my loving wife Mrs. Haus Mrs. Haus , who always means well, decides to give me a surprise for Xmas. "I found an old painting you had stored away, I had it reframed for your game room, it looks great... "

Damnit... Now I have to explain to her why we can't allow any Ghostbusters in the house anymore. Then I take a closer look and suddenly why I'm feeling tired and like crap makes sense. The damn thing stopped aging, and apparently I'm aging again now..

So now it's the holiday season and I'm trying to find someone who can do restoration work on this somewhat unique painting.. Wondering if I can find a video on Youtube and maybe just fix it myself with a couple live chickens and some candles. And every supposed "expert" I call is telling me "yadda yadda yadda nobody does these old gypsy/Carpathian paintings anymore.. I can hook you up with a nice phylactery if you need." and I'm like "BITCH, did I ASK for a phylactery?"

No this is not a CR. I was cleaning out some stuff and came across all the paperwork between a hospital and insurance (yep it was United) for a shot to my shoulder and neck area that the hospital tried to charge 40k for. Best guess is 3k+ pages.

So, this new phone that is the exact same model as the one that shit the bed .... I can't get it to look and act like the old phone. Fewer icons fit on the home screen. There's a new fucking thing in the top corner that keeps me from using the top piece of real estate. The favorites bar is limited to 4 and I know I had 5 things there. The lock screen won't look the same. The lock screen won't act the same. I played with the text settings and can't get it to look right. At least with that one, I decided to use the Brahma Brahma setting and let the text be bigger and bolder for easier reading.

And lets not talk about having to log into and configure every app again. I knew it was going to happen, but it's no less jimmy rustling. Oh and of course some of my apps are no longer available.

Getting more life insurance. The carrier is questioning my health because for some reason my primary care Dr. has two years of notes saying I’ve got an auto-immune disease (doesn’t say what).
First time I’m hearing of this. You’d think the Dr. would have mentioned it to ME in the last two years…

My sister in law had a brain tumor removed in 2014-2015. It came back in another place (near one of her eyes) and was removed earlier in this year. When the surgeon took it out, he detached a muscle near her eye so she looks like she had a mild stroke, and she has double vision which is causing migraines. For added fun, one of the follow up MRI's showed a spot that made it look like it was coming back. This past Friday, they had a video call with the surgeon and oncologist who decided it wasn't back but recommended radiation like I had (5 weeks once a day) and to have cosmetic surgery to have the muscle repaired. Brother said the meeting was recorded and the surgeons office sent them a copy of the video. Today when we Video called for Xmas (other ends of the USA) and I asked how she was doing, she said the doc now does not remember saying any of those things and has released her to go back to work this coming Monday. And apparently the oncologist is throwing a shit fit over it. The said (I wasn't there mind) that it sounded like the surgeon didn't want to admit he made a mistake.
Now they live around Charlotte NC , a town with very good medical care.

Do you have eczema, dandruff, thyroid disease, IBS, anything like that? Most all of those are auto-immune diseases. Could be something like that which sounds bad if you say “auto-immune” but is actually pretty benign.

I had one develop starting in middle school. Hereditary component for me as my dad has one as well. Anyhow, had a food impacting during basic training, they had to do an endoscopy to clear it out. Finally got it taken care of a couple years later with another endoscopy where they actually fixed the hernia. I was on ranitidine a couple months pre-op then a couple years after. No issues since, as long as I don’t eat like a pig before bed, and generally maintain a healthy diet, I don’t get any reflux.
