What's the story behind your Rerolled name?

Created a male druid in EQ1 in march 1999 - my second character after I ditched a human wizard after a week because I couldn't see anything at night. Wizard name was KanonFoddr which I thought was clever. The random wood elf druid model looked like a small mexican boy to me, so I named him Julio. The name filter wouldn't allow it, so I used Whooleeo

Didn't use it EQ, but it's become the default name for the legion of human mage characters I've made for fantasy RPGs (didn't even play spell casters in EQ).

When trying to come up with a name, I went the lazy route of taking the name of a book character, and changing it enough to not be an obvious ripoff. In this case, I went with Raymond Fiest's Riftwar books, which I had been reading at the time, whose protagonist is a mage named Pug, who also goes by the name Milamber; I took the second name, changed it a bit, and came up with Mirander, which I used for my EQ2 character. I eventually realized the name was overly close to the name Miranda, and so decided to shorten it to Randin. And that's the story.

2nd character made in EQ 1999. First was a human monk, who come night time couldn't sees shit, I died to something and said fuck this. Me and cousin then made gnomes, thus Cinge the gnome wizard was born.

When I was a stockbroker in 1999, I started the Gravymix Fantasy Stock Challenge at our brokerage. The name stuck, and was shortened to Gravy.

I just thought it was a 'clever' play on words.

my rl nickname is chuck, in eq i couldnt spell out chuckzombie on the char selection screen because it was too many characters so i shortened it down to chukzombi. on message boards or IRC since the 90s i was always chuk for short. im into the GOT book series now so i decided from the decades of hardcore gaming i earned my maester chain and now im Maester Chuk. as a Maester i had to relinquish my house name. so i no longer claim astrocreep as my surname.

i was only ever astrocreep on the foh board for 4ish years( mid2008-late 2012) and that was only after i quit online gaming in an uberguild so i didnt have to follow any guild's NDA on game tactics. i posted under a fake name(The Sinister Urge) til i was millie banned/deleted 2001-2007. all that time i was always chuk(zombi) on the emarr/shadow killers/umoja/da`kor/magister boards. to you i am astrocreep but to new people here and the last 20 years in game or on other message boards i have been chuk. even when i was a mod on the Mafia mod board i was chuk. if you like calling me astro or astrocreep thats fine, its just incorrect and only references a name on a board that no longer exists
