Porblem I have with digital on nintendo stuff is they are linked to a console and not the user account. I have a shitload of digital games from when they had the "buy MK8 and choose one of these for free" deal at MK8 launch and I had a good thing going but now if the Wii-U dies it's a hassle to transfer them to a new console

First time I've done any console gaming in roughly 6 years and I forgot how expensive buying games can be. So used to getting stuff for dirt cheap on Steam. I think I typically pay full price for a title once or twice a year. Do people still rent quite a bit or just buy everything? And other than MK8 and SSB, are there any other games that are a must buy over rent?

Games are linked to the your NNID, but as of now your NNID is linked to your console. They are slowly moving to have the account be independent of the console but not there yet.

I buy physical copies, mostly used. I like to trade them in once I have my fill, of course some I will keep forever like mk8.
I see zero value in a new copy when a used one functions in the exact same capacity. I have never had an issue with a pre played disk. I have an eb games card (Canada's gamestop) so I get 10% off used games and 10% more trade in credit and try to couple the with quarterly buy 2 get one free deals. i end up with a huge backlog of games that average out to $10-15 bucks each. The rare time I want a brand new game they often give An extra 30% trade in value on preorders, if I can wait a week you can often get a week old trade ins for $5 bucks off + 10% off.

I am super jealous of the best buy USA game club, we have nothing like that at Canadian best buy.

I think he was replying to this:

Technically it's PS/Xbox control layouts that are backwards since Nintendo invented the D-pad and 4 button control scheme

Just because you invent something and it's shitty doesn't make it right
He's complaining about buttons being reversed - but Nintendo invented the original placement and Sony/ms are the ones who inverted the standard. I get that if you are used to ps/Xbox layout then going to Nintendo takes getting used to but doesn't mean their layout is wrong. Change the button mapping yourself, most games have it.

I'll have to join those. I'm pretty good at MK8. I can consistently get first place or close on online. Of course, I bet these cats are another level.

High level MK8 just looks annoying with the damn left/right hopping shit you're constantly doing

It's way more about mastering the drift your character/kart combo has than constantly hopping. Timing a drift to where you can tightly hug a corner is more efficient than constantly hopping.

Are all characters more or less viable in online MK8? I mean, are there some that are clearly superior to others and everyone uses them?
