Wii U

If someone were to sell a Wii U with games installed, how would one go about retaining those digital games after a factory wipe? Trying to get as much as I can for mine and would love to include the few games I purchased digitally.

its a bit murky and honestly i am not sure you will ever get a straight answer without trying it (and possibly losing access to all your games). nintendo is NOT a portable digital world, if your wii u or 3ds were broken and you bought a new one logging in with your nintendo network id will not give you any of your eshop purchases on your new system. you have to call into nintendo and have them transfer all your games to your new console, which takes them 1-7 days.

in the past people have reported they have done a factory wipe on a wii u, sold it to someone, that person has created a new (or used an existing) nintendo network id, and had all the games previously bought on that wii u available to them. that was last year. they have been trying to muck around with nintendo network id, club nintendo, eshop, etc this year merging them all so who really knows what the current state is.

Yea I kind of figured as much. I vaguely remember reading about external HD's being used to supplement the paltry 32 gigs Nintendo provides but couldn't really find much on it.

I have gotten dozens of responses on CL already and I just posted it yesterday so I guess the demand is there even though im only offering MK8 and 3 controllers. Shame i'll never get to 100% NES Remix 2....

Thought about that too. I guess I just get nervous when it comes to personal account shit online so would rather just avoid it altogether. Somehow, someway I would find a way to mess something up. Especially with Nintendos account system!

Yup that had occured to me too haha. Got bored of sucking at MK and with some good ps4 games comming this month, and more to follow I don't see myself using it much more. Plus I need some fast scratch to get my car back on the road (for work), so I am kind of scrambling to get rid of it.

Right now the best offer is 250 for the system, MK8, a Nyko pro and 2 crap wii motes. I even have the dude comming to me so that's a plus. Not getting my full money's worth but I can live with this given my current situation and all the past lulzy trades to Gamestop.

Edit: some guy just offered a PS4 trade. It's crazy how MK8 and E3 really turned things around for Nintendo. Can't wait to see their numbers now.

StoiCynic: if you deactivate your nintendo network ID on your Wii U, in the future your NNID can "get back" the eShop games you buy. If you DONT deactivate your NNID then the games are forever tied to that Wii U, a new login should be able to just grab em. I don't think a factory reset is the same as deactivate.

Target is going to run the get $15 off a game when you get a $1 preorder card from 7/20 - 7/26, so if you haven't yet gotten all the free MK8 games its gonna be a great time to finish it off. You buy 1-4 copies, pricematch to Walmart or Amazon which sell it for $49, get 1-4 $1 preorder cards (Destiny Madden etc) and get $15 off each MK8 copy. So for $35 each copy you walk out with MK8, take out the club nintendo inserts, and then trade the games to Best Buy or Gamestop for maybe more than what you paid (currently $39 at Best Buy). essentially getting paid a few bucks per copy while getting a free game. You can buy amazon or Visa GCs (for gas) at best buy.

The promo where you get 1 of 4 free games for each MK8 reg (Pikmin 3, Zelda HD, Super Mario U, Wii Party) ends 7/31 so this is good timing. This doesn't start at Target for another 10 days, 7/20. If you already got all 4 free MK8 games there isn't much point to doing this, the list of games where the $15 off promo applies is small - MK8, Titanfall, Watch Dogs, and UFC is all we know so far.

If any of you own a Wii U or a 3DS, Shovel Knight is a must buy. It's legit. You can tell that the people that made it had a love for this game rarely seen in indie games. I'd say it outshines Capcom's classics imo. Only downside is it's short, but there's supposed to be some DLC in the future.

7/20 - 7/26 bestbuy is gonna sell wii u pro controllers for $30 and motion+ for $40 with $10 gift card back, target will also be having some good wii u deals

my mk8 online gaming wins have gone up tremendously after listening to some online advice, before i was using a mii and kinda random loadouts but I have changed to a heavy (bowser/donkey kong/luigi/etc), pipe frame, and slicks. Its insane how much better that loadout is than any other in online mode.

I got rid of my old 3ds XL and picked up the Mario & Luigi bundle. I transfered the data, but it didn't transfer my two Zelda Oracle games. I went to the e-shop and simply redownloaded them on the new system.

I would of if I wasn't in a rush to get rid of it. I literally got about 60 emails on that listing here on LI. In the end I got 300 for the system/game/nyko pro/2 cheapo wii motes and the dude drove all the way to me from Brooklyn. I hope he's in all his "1st place whole race till one assfuck at the end then 10th place" glory.

Can get Wii U for $213 + tax from Target with some pretty simple leg work. Stacking different coupons, and the Red card 5% discount.

I should have done that deal. I have the moving coupon ready and it is good through August. Maybe Target will have another deal toward the end of the month.

I convinced a manager at Target over the phone to honor the 15% off all electronics if I make a purchase today. I am on the fence. I don't really need a Wiiu, it is going to collect dust, but man MK8 and SSB will be fun for a little while.

Since Mario U is free with mk8, it seems like going with refurbished wii u and then waiting for the $1 preorder for $15 gift card would be better.

yeah 15% by itself isn't really worth it, its a nice little bonus if you can stack 5% redcard, 10% movers, and 10% employee discount. otherwise i'd say the $200 refurb and $15 discount is a way better deal, esp since the mk8 wheel controller is not that good

nice thing about waiting till sunday and snagging some MK8s at Target will be trading them into Best Buy or Gamestop and buying eShop cards and/or buying a digital MK8 voucher

i traded in my own MK8 at gamestop today, got $41.50 for it and used that plus credit from bravely default to buy digital voucher for MK8, so I don't have to worry about the disc anymore. its only a 5 gig download so doesn't take up that much room, game that I'll always keep

walmart is also giving $60 credit for MK8 this week but i don't shop at walmart
