I had a ton of FPS issues on an nVidia card coming around or cresting mountains where a large portion of the terrain would come in to view. The terrain would lag behind so my view would be flooded with a solid color (whatever the background / sky is supposed to be), my FPS would drop to like 2 until the terrain loaded. It was extremely bad on the taxi rides.

The UI is terrible. It's an objective fact. The modders have to fix the carbine published UI mods. It's not even a matter of customizing mods, it's a matter of bugfixing. The default carbine settler UI will lag the client. Something about espers will lag the client. So if you have an esper settler, make a /reloadui macro and prepare to push it a lot.

On the one hand it will help to create a more vibrant modding community. On the other hand, I think the total time investment to the UI on carbines part approaches 0. The most they're really doing is deciding which functions to allow and disallow into the public libraries.

That's a decision they made which is theirs to make, but when they have a dev whose forum title is "UI Developer" I sincerely question the decision. I just question what he does. He's not being paid to look at porn, and he's not being paid to develop the UI. So I wonder where his talents and work are being used. He's doing something, just not what they tell us he's doing.
Iirc they have said the UI is a place holder? Who knows if its true but will have to wait and see if it actually gets a overhaul or not. If not I will just have to look into mods.

I enjoyed last week's stress test enough that I would preorder this game to get into the beta. Unfortunately, Wildstar isn't offering beta access or preorders as far as I can tell. Too bad...

Don't think you will see pre-orders until a release date at least. I wouldn't be shocked to see a beta(probably a later phase when its close to being done) invite as part of the benefits.

Still interested in a friend key if anyone is willing to hook it up. I had applied in June 2012 and found the confirmation email but was still apply again with the same address. Odd.

if you are having lag issues in this game it is absolutely something that can be ironed out, and likely something do with optimization to your hardware, once I set render target scale to 1 I was running at 60 fps comfortably at 2560 x 1440 with no lag spikes no matter where I was.

Anyone else finding that this game causes some serious hand cramping/rsi/carpal tunnel? So much button spam in combat, constantly holding right mouse for camera lock, holding sprint down, etc.

There's a mod for toggle mouse look, definitely want to use that. Sprinting is retarded and whoever thought it was a good idea is also a retard. Sprint should only work in combat and ooc speed should be maxed all the time. And yeah it is pretty spammy, as is customary for mmos really, other than FFXIV and its 2.5s GCD(which was still spammy, but just slower spam) every mmo released after wow has been spammy and wow itself is spammy. The thing though is you're moving ALL the time on top of the spam, so that adds quite a lot of keypresses. In wow while there were plenty of fights that required mobility, a lot of the time you'd have lulls for 15-20secs of stand still and DPS kind of shit with movement being random targetted abilities "gtfo the raid or wipe" type of shit. I think that's what makes it look more spammy than it is.

If you stand still and just DPS, you'll notice it's actually not very intensive, at least if you don't compare to EQ. But since everything spams telegraphs at you all the time, you have to move all the time, which means for every ability you press, you're also pressing 1-2movement keys. And holding your right mouse button to adjust your direction while doing so.

Same here please. I hate to be a key beggar, but I'd really love to get into the beta test. I got into one of the stress test weekends and I'm already hooked. I can't stop thinking about the game. lol

God I loved leveling my monk with that Razer Naga Moba mouse on EQ1 last year. Made shit easy with auto attack, mend, feign death and sit/stand etc etc all on my thumb. I guess I should have stopped being a cave man and hotkeyed 6 Spellslinger spells to those keys but I didn't bother. Just used 1-8.

I'm guessing you guys were playing stalker or warrior. I didn't have much spam but the movement and dodging speeds everything up. The only true pain in the ass skill we had was called Rapid Fire? You pushed the key to activate it and fire off one round... then over the next 6 or so seconds you had the chance to tap the button again 2-3 times before the skill would go on cooldown. It's definately not as user friendly as the lv 1 spammy skill but i replaced quickdraw with that to up my game. The boon was being able to dodge in between taps.

I was thinking the same thing with sprint. OoC should be a slight boost then have sprint in combat. It's a shame everybody is used to that shit plus mounting between mobs.

So i finally get the opportunity (weekend beta) to play this game, came home from work, turn on the pc and I see fuckin artifacts on the goddamn bios loading screen. Video card is dying, can only boot safe mode with a shitload of artifacts everywhere.
Removed the card, used onboard vga, at least I was able to see a slow-mo version of the character creation.

Oh well, I'll wait for release...

I'm going to throw my hat in the ring again for a beta key too. Wasn't interested in the weekend stress test keys because I had a lot to deal with at work at the time, but I'd really like the chance to see this game in action.

I loved vanilla WoW and Wrath as well. Hated Pandas and Cata. Not sure if I'm done with quest hub style gameplay or if it's the changes in the expansions and lackluster clones that have turned me off. I think Wildstar may answer that question for me. People seem to be awfully divided over this game.

The sprint thing is weird, I think it's because I play a lot of FPS that I do not notice it. Also helps I rarely use it if I can mount. I wouldn't say no to sprint speed being on all the time ooc and then having to use it when needed in combat though.

As for the spammy, it feels like really the usual action mmo to me. Movement wise is about the same, where you can't really just run up to a mob and dps while standing still entire time and button hitting is about equal as well.

OOC perma-sprint would be a suitable compromise I think. Most FPS at least lock the sprint on until you stop running so that you don't have to hold it down. Seems like sprint is still usable on the mounts, at least the hover board. You can't escape it.

I'm certainly no stranger to MMOs, but nothing has ever crippled the fuck out of my hands like this game does after a few hours. The camera lock mod is alright, but it's a bit clunky (mouse binding, context switching) as is to be expected with a mod trying to change core controls like that. It's odd that the game wasn't designed from the ground up for that style of control.

Hmm doing Bf4 right now and I have to hold it down entire time I run around, though maybe I am missing a toggle somewhere. I don't think a toggle would work here since sprint is on a resource.

It's a really stupid ressource though ooc, just take the average speed and make that the baseline runspeed ooc, no need for a button to be pressed all the time. I assume they won't remove it but probably will add a toggle though, so you can just press it everytime your sprint bar is full once instead of keeping it pressed, might be moddable actually.

The combat isn't more spammy than action mmos I wasn't saying that, it's about the same. I was saying, compared to a more traditional mmo like wow/swtor/rift etc, it feels more spammy because of the movement, but not really because of the actual combat which is about the same. If you keep moving non stop in wow, say like if you're pvping, it's pretty much the same amount of inputs required so it's not any less or more spammy.

Aurin Males are the most feminine character model in the game.

They caved to the SJW and put tights underneath the hotpants and reduced boobs across the boards. Aurin males are still the twinkiest twinks that ever twunk.

And Chua's are sweet too.
