So I played a bit just now on the beta server. FPS is still horrible, even with no one around I am dipping into the 30s for no reason. And the UI is still really, really bad. The design just hasnt really changed even with the remake, it's still an orgy of shit popping up and takes up way too much room. Also I leveled up and got a LUA error as reward. I'm not going to say I instantly regret my decision but I am not too impressed by the changes since october

So my rig was solid at one point, but I'm sitting on a Q6600 and 8 gigs of RAM at the moment. Really want to wait to upgrade that shit til next generation. I have a GTX 460, would upgrading that to a R9 290 or a 780 give me much of an increase or is the CPU the probable bottleneck?

Honest question: Is there anything short of a complete re-design of the game that would satisfy you? I mean, you've voiced your dislike of Wildstar quite a bit. I don't particularly have a problem with your opinion and I'm thankful that you haven't gone full Ut and at least don't argue with everyone who doesn't share your opinion but come on man it's clear that it's not the game for you.

CPU is by far the bottleneck for Wildstar so upgrading that would be your best bet. With that being said, the game has a lot of FPS issues on systems that it has no business having so much trouble so I wouldn't upgrade just for Wildstar since you'd probably end up being disappointed.

I'm a bitter mmo veteran so nothing will ever satisfy me

A lot of things that stick in my craw are the lazy design decisions like single weapon per class, hard factions, etc. These things just shouldn't be done in my opinion. But for the most part if they just embraced action combat a bit more, let us bind mouse1 and 2 to attacks (i know there are mods but they are rudimentary from what I'm reading) and cleaned up some noticeably bad things like performance and UI, the game wouldn't be bad

Do we have a volunteer for the Exile/PVE guild contact? Preferably someone with high playtime initially. PM me if interested and we can get stuff organized. Thanks.

Fair enough, some of those things I don't like either. But, if the end game is solid, it should still be worth a play through. That's one thing no recent MMO seems to have nailed right.

I haven't played this since very early closed beta. What's the verdict?

Mediocre TBC-era wow clone that might be fun for 1-2 months.
Don't most people who played WoW consider TBC a very good expansion with high quality group and raid content? If the PVE in this game is even close to TBC in quality, then that sounds like a positive to me then.

consensus seems to be that there is enough difficulty in the group content to allow good players to rise above mediocre ones, something not currently possible in most games. The crafting seems to be pretty in depth, and we will be playing this "TBC clone" at the point where wellfare epics were at a minimum. SO if you want challenge and recognition of accomplishment based on gear thisshouldbe the game. And yes TBC was the best era of wow, group content was great, well ok you lost some of the world of warcraft feel with the space goats, energy cubes, and what not, but at least the other two talent trees worked for each class.

I view my comment as less than an indictment as much as an accurate appraisal of the game and its quality of life features. Personally, I played WoW during the TBC so, many years later, I expect more.

But now you get killer space hamsters and energy cubes!

I'm still dithering on if it I want to get this or not, since I get little time to do whatever after work these days. (6am-5:30pm = zzzz mode)

The initial experience is going to turn a lot of people off, but combat is fun and it gets better as you go. Still questioning whether I'll be playing in two months but I'm not ruling it out.

Game runs like shit on my old rig, only 4gb of ram in it which I think is the main issue, CPU and Gpu all running low but ram running at 90% capacity. From what I could see off the game it seemed okay nothing ground breaking but had fun even with my major cps issues

I only played this briefly yesterday, but I am surprised that people have fps problems. I get 45-60 fps on my 2 year old machine on high settings. i5 3570k, 8 gig ram, 560 gtx and ssd. I have been told by friends that it runs smooth on weak machines on low settings also, but it lags bad on high setting on weaker machines (obviously).

Parts of the UI are buggy as shit though (quest tracker).

Similar system here with no real fps issues and running high settings. I5 3570k OC to 4ghz, GTX660 TI, 16gb ram, SSD. Have not had any issues throughout my time in beta.

I wish they'd go ahead and release the server names (read a post saying that they'd only release them 24-72 hours before launch). I'm genuinely curious how many servers they're going to have. Pretty much everyone I know that plays MMOs has asked me about Wildstar - they've got a great opportunity for a really successful launch.

Housing is nice. But honestly if you're into that sort of thing EQ:L is probably better.

The 5mans are nice. But the game is just about 95% solo content. I'm not exaggerating. And while the 5mans are nice there were still some lingering bugs that I have doubts about them fixing. Because bug fixing is not a real strong suit of theirs.

I mean there are good things about the game. It's probably worth the price of the box. I don't know if it's worth the price of the sub. I lean to not.

s'ok though. f2p within 6 months.

f2p is all MMO's these days so there's nothing unique in that description.

Games okay, there's lots to do, once you get combat down it's enjoyable, there are some difficult group dungeons to keep you coming back for more.

-shrug- Graphics don't bug me so the complaint about that i don't really care about personally. My machine is newer and I have zero issues with FPS. I'm in line with what Gilgamel said pretty much.
