Finished Emilia Perez

It grew on me after a while. Drug dealer Mrs Doubtfire was interesting.

There's a lot of dumb plot points in this. Mostly the idea of finding the bodies of people you murdered as some kinda redemption. Sicarios are scum. Penis or not.

Overall I thought it was alright. Prob won't ever watch again

Better than Nickel Boys

Of the 6 Best picture nominees I have seen, my vote goes to A Complete Unknown, a film that for some reason no one seem to talk about. If you have not, check it out. I know nothing about folk music and still was mesmerized and moved from start to finish. I will probably see I Am Still Here and possibly Anora, but I doubt they will knock down Mangold's film.

The big winner was the stripper/prostitute slapstick comedy, beating out the schlocky body horror movie.

What a world.

Witness the power of Sean Baker. Dude just knows how to get great acting out of anyone and everyone (including non actors). Florida Project and Red Rocket are well worth watching, as is Tangerine but I dont think many here will love the subject matter the movie itself is very good.

I'm fine with most these awards

Except as much as I love his performances I don't think Culkin was the strongest sporting actor

I have not seen a thread about it so I'll post it here: I know next to nothing about folk music and Bob Dylan, so without a hint of nostalgia, I really enjoyed A Complete Unknown. Great performances all around and a deeply moving film. James Mangold has one strange filmography.

PS: I recently caught up with Leto, a great Russian film about the Saint Petersburg rock scene in the '80s that is a good companion piece to this.
I liked a complete unknown far more than I thought I would. To the point where I'm now watching the Scorsese doc on him.

I had one little nitpick that made me cringe hard tho

when Bob shows up unannounced to his ex's place and she has to say "we broke up… remember?"

Typical "the audience is too stupid to figure out out" line. Ugh

I'm sure those actors were way better than Dylan was in Billy the Kid. He was terrible.

I am glad these awards exist because I know if a movie wins one, I won't waste my time watching it.
