Sweet baby Jesus, Startallback is way better than Start11. And it works perfectly with DisplayFusion. At least so far.

Probably not worth my time to try to get $12 back from Stardock, but maybe if I'm bored.

Thanks!

Wow this is petty..

According to Windows Latest, Microsoft claims that the seconds display in the clock is a burden on the graphical user interface and causes a performance hit. Windows 10 has to spend extra resources updating the time every second, and this constant activity prevents the CPU from entering a power-saving state

I forget what the exact failure mode was, but I was unable to get DF to produce what I wanted.

I've got two monitors, the primary of which is an OLED. I wanted to limit burn-in, hence auto-hiding the taskbar, but having it at the bottom of the screen sucks because it constantly pops up and resizes windows when you try to mouse down to the bottom edge for something else (media controls, etc.). I ended up making my side monitor the "main" in Windows, disabling the secondary taskbkar on the OLED, and using StartAllBack to put a vertical taskbar on the LCD at the interface of the two desktops.

StartAllBack was the only one of like a dozen solutions I tried that got me to a tolerable place. It seems essentially impossible to get full control over taskbars on multiple monitors (differential location, hiding, geometry, etc.).
I got off Win10 and onto Linux this last weekend. It's stunning to me how much of an out of the box Linux distro lets you just change everything. Most of my stuff just worked and I didn't have to do anything gay to get stuff working like I remember from the old days.

Good riddance I guess. It's been fun Windows but you are too gay for me now. I only did this because of the Win10 sunset and not wanting to deal with what appears to be even more of a downgrade.

I ended up with Fedora Plasma. One of their variants using KDE instead of the Gnome desktop. It reminds me a lot of oldschool Windows. Where it was a nerds OS and you can just do shit as you please. Like open up the partition manager and live partition drives you are using if you want. As opposed to obfuscating everything like modern Windows does. Mac makes you do it all from the terminal so you both have the same old control but need to be more of a tech nerd to do it. Which I always liked.

I've got an older PC under my desk that has win 10, cannot upgrade to win 11 and since I don't use it to game I have zero desire to upgrade it. I set up a full blown NAS last week and as soon as everything is backed up to it, that PC is getting some version of Linux on it. I've only ever really played around with Linux but I did like it.

There's a mod for this eh. I learned about Windhawk recently; thought about this post when found it
