I ran out of stuff for this season to watch, so I decided to pick up Love Live. I know K-on is considered better, but I tried it and I found it boring with a main character I hated.
Love Live is kinda neat so far though, especially since all the backgrounds and locations are in my neighbourhood, so I'm constantly spotting scenery that I'm familiar with.
This may.. be the point of no return for me.

It's a shoujo drama. You shouldn't expect "and they happily scissored ever after."

I have no fucking idea what they are doing, but they need to stop it soon.

Because they adapt the LN source, and the lizard arc is arguably the most boring part of Overlord. Even the anime can't fix it, as the over-the-top characters you grew attached to in season 1 don't show up. Every LN reader skimmed through it or outright skipped it to the end.
It's funny because everyone was super hyped for season 2, and the LN readers thought "well, next is the lizards. I can start watching at episode 4 or 5."

Light Novel. It's a Japanese thing. Most of these animes start off as a light novel. Which is just a shorter 200 page novel. Typically 2-3 come out from every series per year.
So if a light novel sells a lot of copies, they'll sometimes offer it as a manga option or an anime option. The entire purpose of either the manga or anime is ONLY to sell more copies of the light novel. Nothing more.
So if they make an anime, they expect the light novel sales to increase by x, but if they don't, then they usually won't make an additional series of the show.
