I've decided to wait a bit before doing another playthrough. I'm gonna let the Modders catch up with QOL stuff (no degrading equipment, weight limit, etc.). I really want to get the most out of getting back into this game.

That video makes the update look like shit compared to the HD Rework. The Next Gen is blurry as fuck.
That video makes next gen look like shit compared to the original. Whoever made that video doesn't know what the fuck they're doing.

next gen looks like witcher3:switch

Yeah it's either the switch version or he has the settings dialed down for shock value web hits.

Series X looked a lot cleaner. Tried 30 FPS RT and just couldn't take the frame rate hit. Performance on Series X works great (But this version already had a 4k/performance option before the next gen upgrade) - I may be going blind but I'll be damned if I can tell the difference between the two. I finished Blood and Wine and the OG game, will work on HoS and then just go around doing tons of side quests.

Finally got around to beating Hearts of Stone, and Blood & Wine. Blood & Wine annoyed me a bit at the end with some of the decisions you make, and what they result in. Try to instill proper justice, and you get the "bad ending", ok whatever. Regardless, Blood & Wine was incredible. Absolutely fantastic landscape, and quest content.

All in all, what a game. Beat the main game sometime in 2021 for the first time (I know it's sad, my backlog forever grows, and I generally push the bigger time investments down the list), and it's just crazy how all-encompassing this game is. Combat, character movement, some crashes on next gen are all legitimate flaws. All that aside, it's probably the best game I've ever played outside a couple of MMOs, and maybe Alyx.

Playing through blood and wine for the first time and there is a hilarious side quest.

Some old man steals magical testicles off a statue and when you track him down he has some young ass in his house. If you choose to let him keep them he offers to reward you in a weeks time. Every 24 hours you meditate you can hear them going at it being his closed door.

However, on day 7 when you come out of meditating, the women is outside the door now, in a shawl crying. And there's a notice on the door like "yep, he died"

Since this has been bumped, I recently found a really well edited movie version of the game for those who'd like to experience the story without grinding through the game again. Only hits the main quests obviously

I've watched some of those for the GTA games. Good stuff to have on the side monitor while doing other things for games that you probably will never play through.

This seems cool, hopefully the community grabs a hold of it for some good things

Id say 3 and the go back to one and two. The ui and controls of the older ones is a hard sale for anyone - so definitely a labor of love.

I stopped playing 1 after 2 hours and never went picked it up again, isometric player view and controls sucked. I beat 2, but really hated the fact that the game wasn't open world, it was very much on rails but with lots of branching plotlines and decisions. I would say just play 3 first and if you really into it, play 2. And if you still want more then play 1.

They're redoing 1, but no idea when it'll release. If you really want to get the most out of the story for 3 then I'd play 2, the game play isn't that bad and the story more than makes up for it. You can certainly play 3 first, but some story elements won't be as clear.

It'd be harder to play 3 first and then go down to 2 for multiple reasons, both story wise and game play wise.

Edit: Or just watch a cutscene play through on youtube for 2, try to find one going the Iorveth route

2 still holds up and I don't remember it being a very long game. It's worth playing. 1 is very rough by modern standards and can be skipped.

If you're interested in the story there's plenty of lore recaps for the books and first game on youtube.
