Anyone else crashing since 1.04. I crashed once or twice before, and been crashing every 5-10 minutes or so now. During cutscenes, just walking around...it's barely playable now with the constant crashes.
Disable/close your Nvidia Experience software suite. It caused constant crashes for me on my Nvidia 970. Disabled it, and not a crash since.

That's his name!

And rumble being Quen wearing off just might be it.
It also rumbles if you burn through your stamina.

Unrelated the two quests that were "broken" suddenly updated and work now. No idea why it fixed but works for me.

I was crashing when fast traveling to White Orchard from Velen. Did some googling and found that the Byways Murder contract apparently is buggy and has been known to cause issues when it's in your quest log. It was a little higher than my current level, but I scooted over there and completed it. No more crashing when fast traveling. Go figure.

CAREFUL! Bug breaks XP rewards for quests in patch 1.04! : witcher(Edit: Not actually related to 1.04, it affects older PC patches and both consoles as well.)

Just confirmed that this happened to me in Novigrad. I reloaded my savegames at the ends of Broken Flowers and Count Reuven's Treasure and finished them again. No experience at all for either of them. I assume Get Junior gave me nothing too. Tested a couple side quest saves and those did give experience.

I'd just give myself xp via the console, but I don't know exactly how much they were supposed to give. Grabbed a PDF of the Prima guide but it doesn't have the exact details either.
I did notice that some quests weren't giving me completion exp, but it didn't occur to me that it could be a bug. How unfortunate. There's probably no way for them to confirm whether or not you received the exp.

Finish all the Yennefer quests, it will give you some much needed background, especially if you haven't read the books. But yeah, she's a bit of an asshole, same as Geralt.
You know I think CDPR totally fucked up Yen in that regard. My recollection of her from the books is that she is a bit of bitch but more of a strict by the book kind of person rather then oblivious bitch.

Also Ciri rejoining the lodge of sorceresses is absolute BS. The novels made it very clear that she had no magic left when she renounced all her magic powers which are separate from dimension traveling powers.

Well, grey quests aren't supposed to give xp, that part is working as intended. It's stupid, but it's not a bug. I mean, ffs, there's quests on Skellige that are 100% guaranteed to be grey if you wait to go there only after you've finished Novigrad, or even just until you're at the recommended level (16) for 'Find Passage to Skellige'.

If you do a green/red quest and don't get xp then you've got the bug, and most likely EVERY story quest you do will fail to give xp from that point on. Most people seem to be running into the bug either at the end of the Baron series or the start of Novigrad. I'm pretty sure I'm about 3 levels behind what I should be, since the bug is unrelated to 1.04 and it looks like I never got any xp for anything I did in Novigrad.

Ah, yeah I got exp when I completed the Byways Murder quest so I guess I don't have the bug. Sorry for your loss, Vorph.

okay, is this really what it looks like for you people playing on PC? If so, i really regret getting it on PS4, cause it sure as hell does not come close to this :/

Triss or Yen?

So I didn't read the books and even though I understand Yen is his true love or whatever I know Triss from Witcher 2 and I proclaimed my love to Triss and she got off the boat just has Djyenck(SP? fat dude with weird head) was telling me his love and lost story, was a great moment and really interested in seeing how my next encounter with Yen goes.

If you read the books who did you pick?

Almost level 19 and haven't left Velen yet. This game has me hooked liked nothing I have experienced to date, I feel like the I am at the pinnacle of Everquest with no come down in sight.

I wasn't happy with their Yen portrayal. She is pretty much a total cunt the entire time.

I was happy with my early choice.

Who taught you to fight like that ? (bossfight spoilers)

The Witcher you killed.

That fight was absolutely beautiful. From the start, Geralt approaching the Chaos space marine, down to the "Finish him" with his mace. The Crone fight was a bit boring, maybe it's because I did it with Ciri and she doesn't have that many toys

Hatorade: I'm with you, I thought a week would be more than enough to blow through the whole game, but it just keeps going up on my personal "best games of all time" list. Controls are a bit wonky, the combat could be tighter, but the game grabs you and won't let go, with even smallest side quests having their place and meaning.

So instead of trying to redo the old quests to see if they give xp now, which I realized isn't a valid indicator since it's the game that is bugged and not my saves...

I went back through all my old saves and loaded them before and after each story quest and checked to see if I my xp changed. Family Matters/Out of the Shadows is the last time I got xp. Pyres of Novigrad gave nothing beyond the 12xp for killing the hunters, and it's a level 10 quest that I did at 13. Side quests are still giving xp as long as they aren't grey. So if you're concerned about the same thing happening, the beginning of Novigrad appears to be the point where it happens.

Some people are reporting that the bug also goes away for some unknown reason. I'm going to head to Skellige and see if I get any experience for the main quests there.

Yes if you have a 970+
Or are really careful about your video settings. There are things that barely change image quality at all but take a huge framerate hit. My PC only has a 7950 but still looks a hell of a lot better than the PS4 sitting next to it.

Pretty much. That video is obviously showing off dramatic camera angles/pans that don't represent gameplay, but that's what the world looks like on ultra settings, you jsut usually don't see THAT much scenery at any 1 time while playing, since you are down at ground level.

I play at 1440p on a 970 and everything is cranked to ultra except shadows(they are on medium) and it stays at 30-40fps constantly, with basically zero load times on my Samsung SSD. When I die, the reload is less than 1 second, same with fast traveling. Game startup maybe takes 3-4 seconds.

If they would have gotten Yen's portrayal right then I would have gone with her but since they made her into a raging pre menstrual biatch i decided to forgo any boning. She is a lot more likable in the books. She is kind of abused by all these parties so she is pretty fragile towards the end. Also in the books Triss and Yen tag team Geralt to keep him under their control (for the sake of the lodge) so there isn't any super big animosity or strangeness between them. That being said CDPR made her exactly the way I imaged her to look and sound like. Hat tip to them for doing that.

I highly recommend the books to anyone who digs the game. In my opinion this game was made for fans of the books as you got to see all the surviving characters from the novels and some interesting locals though I think oxenfort was a bit underwhelming.

Their quest layout is a bit strange anyway. Like the contracts you get from the Nilfgaard Army Camp in the far south are level 7 or some shit. I didn't even go there until I was trying to get the Griffin Armor upgrade diagrams. That, and all the shit down in that area is lvl 16+

Its a minor issue, as on Blood and Broken Bones mobs still chunk your hp even if they are way lower level than you. But still, it is like they had a "plan" for your leveling path and abandoned it in favor of the release version. But kept in all the shit from it. IDK.

I have like 50-60 hours in? But I have TONS of question marks I haven't touched and have only just started Skellige. Lots of quests in Velen and Novigrad that I'm not going to do until I get a few more levels. Currently level 20. Loving the amount of content to get through. Does anyone else think the contract investigations are pretty cool?

This uses camera trickery to give the appearance of cutting-edge graphics. The game does look quite good, but you have to look really, really hard to notice a difference between high and ultra. Aside from shadow quality and the hairworks setting, I can't imagine there's much to distinguish the PS4 version from the PC version.
