The other problem is the retarded xp system. For about half the game now my policy has been to choose the lowest level quests available for fear of running out of xp later. The problem - aside from robbing the game of any challenge - is that it doesn't appear to be sustainable. There's no way I'll not have to contend with boring, gray questsYeah this game will kill anyone with any type of complex/OCD/completionist/hoarder. I was doing good keeping up on stuff through velen/novigrad, but once I hit skellige and saw the map and POI's in the middle of the fucking ocean I said fuck it and plowed through the plot quests full throttle.
You can't run out of xp, the game soft-caps around 35 simply because everything gives 1-10xp per kill and the main/sidequests can probably get you to 30 on their own. Best gear requires lvl 30-32, after that there are a few craftable swords that are barely better than witcher gear but that's about it and the bump in damage is very small. You don't need to hoard more than 10 of any monster material, sell off the rest. The game even soft caps your character progression once you fill out all the skill slots. I think they have done excellent job curbing the min maxing in favor of actually playing the game intuitively. The other problem is the retarded xp system. Edit: wtf it omitted like half my post. Whatever.
Just did that one last night, l raffed. But the witcher contracts are so good and well written. If it's not a super serious one they tend to be funny. Grumpy Geralt is best Geralt. "Ughh, Always the same old shit.."
Progression still feels completely wrong, even if it more or less works out in the end. They should have just made it linear and had people go from White Orchard to Velen to Novigrad to Skellige to Kaer Morhen--which is the only way that makes sense from a story standpoint--but instead they felt the need to give the illusion of choice and made areas overlap to such a degree that it is impossible to not have a large number of quests go grey. Even using the mod I posted a few pages back with my rewards.xml that unfucks the bugged quests and Skellige as a whole, you will still end up with grey quests (but at least it is easier to ensure that main quests and critical side quests never do).You can't run out of xp, the game soft-caps around 35 simply because everything gives 1-10xp per kill and the main/sidequests can probably get you to 30 on their own. Are there many missable cards? I'm afraid to search too much for fear of spoilers. Finally got the "Card Collector" trophy..
now I can enjoy the game without worrying about missing a card.
