No one is saying there aren't level modifiers in the game, we are just saying they aren't "hardcoded" like mmos where its impossible to fight monsters significantly over your level. By level 15 you can kill any monster in the game with careful play, even if they are 20+ levels above you. In mmos the to-hit formula in such a scenario means you either literally cannot hit them or you deal such neglible damage that its practically the same, while the monster effectively cannot miss and 1 shots you.

Personally I think the game would improve if they did away with leveling altogether, but it makes it easier to notice whether you are doing relevant content. Simply because of the story, Geralt is supposed to be one of the best witchers alive, but he is usually broke so obtaining only better equipment to progress would fit better.

Just got this for ps4 as well and started it. Enjoying it so far but experiencing a lot of graphical bugs. I just updated it to the latest so hoping they go away.

Just finished up platting disgaea 5 and am gonna start this next. Then it's on to Bloodborne.

Anything I need to know about this game as someone who has never played a Witcher game before?

Nope. This is an excellent game - many people's game of the year for 2015.

Just starting as well, played a few hours on death march, still level 1....this is going to be a grind.

I was addicted last night.

Was a little sad when I 'completed' the first area and it abandoned/failed my quests that I didn't complete. Didn't get warned that was going to happen.

Which ones ? I'm rather confident that only happens with the ones that are time limited due to the story, like the person dying in the witches' hut. There's one more jump that happens and the game will warn you to save or turn back and finish your stuff.

It was just some crap quests, like the dwarf wanting to know who burned down his hut and something else. I turned in the griffin quest and they started popping up as failed

Is there any way to make text in this game bigger? I can't see/read anything from where I sit

Griffin quest is the last quest in that area. When you finish that you essentially end the prologue / tutorial and start the real game. Likely why those quests auto failed.

There are likely other times when this will happen, although the game does warn you IIRC. Anyways, Witcher is fairly linear, it is best to complete stuff in order and skip the main quests until you're ready to advance to a new area or need to level.

The early part of the game is a little disjointed with leveling. You can tell they did a rewrite of how leveling works in game but it wasn't fully fleshed out. You'll feel under leveled for the first parts of Baron and then over leveled for most of the rest of the game.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I feel like the game would've actually been stronger if it was more linear and less open-world. There's too much copy/paste and points of interest that are far from interesting. Granted, this is coming from an avowed completionist so seeing all those PoIs undiscovered on my map makes me twitch, but after chewing through roughly half of them I couldn't bear the thought of doing them all.

Really, the smugglers' caches in Skeligge were the only ones that really wore on me. If they cut out, like, two-thirds of those caches, then I'd have nothing bad to say about the PoIs.

since there's level 45+ gear available and I'm barely 27, I have spent _a lot_ of time doing side stuff, I currently all three Elite Witcher sets of superior armor and weapons for example. In any other game, I'd be pretty sure I'd start the finale with this quest. Yet with so much level to go, I am very far off from finishing?

And yeah, PoI are busywork that rarely contain anything interesting. Especially now that I'm using Elite Witcher gear so I my Greater Runestones and Glyphs carry over as I level

I scaled the difficulty back to Just The Story when the big monsters at my level started one-hitting me at Blood and Broken Bones. I can't imagine what Death March is like.

Yeah this is annoying me with plenty games lately. It's why I stopped playing Sunless Sea. Way too small a font for such a text heavy game. That's why I haven't read a single letter or book in Witcher 3. At least those are optional.

About 5-10 hours at least, you will run into a glut of story quests that will bump you by like 5 levels. Then you will get to tie up all the loose ends before heading into the well announcedd finale. I don't kow how much that changed with Hearts of Stone, if you are playing with the DLC.

If you have the DLC it will add about another 10 hours on top of what is left to in the original game. Basically you still gotta bunch shit left to do and discover.

It expands the northeast of Oxenfurt/east of Novigrad corner of the map, but the content is 30+ on the first playthrough, so you will probably get murdered before the endgame.
