This looks cool, no interest in early access but will have to keep it on my radar for when it releases.

Splattercat gaming, who I pretty much watch daily, did a gameplay video of this and it looks pretty interesting. Difficult, but interesting.

I gotta say, though, I've bought the odd game on the Epic platform but I think I am done over there now.

So I am disappoint.

Played a little of this tonight, and I'm impressed. They say they are a studio of only 12 people... but damn, they do some good work. Pretty hard to start off with, so the first few trips could be frustrating or super fun. I was running on default settings, which were all Medium, with the upscaler being TAAU/Quality, whatever that is. Ran suuuuper smooth and looked good. The AI is really good.

Played enough of this to be impressed. Some cool ideas and very well-produced aesthetic. Going to save it for release.

Man, that looks awesome. Any idea of when the full release is supposed to be? I don't normally do Early Access stuff. Rather wait for the full game to come out.

No idea, been in EA on Epic for the past year, so maybe soon or maybe another year.

Kind of reminds me of a mix of Remnant and the newer Doom games, just in a different setting. I hope it's a pretty big world, but it looks like it might be a lot of fun.

Epic had an interview with the lead dev and he's claiming the focus is shifting somewhat for release:

"Last September, you described the game as an action-shooter roguelike, but it's changed dramatically since then. How would you describe Witchfire today, and why?

Chmielarz:
See, that's the first issue. We never called it a roguelike. We called it a roguelite. ... But then we started introducing other elements, like non-randomized, hand-crafted dungeons called Vaults. Long story short, we realized we were making an RPG shooter, not a roguelite."

It's almost like an extraction shooter where you go in, kill and loot stuff to get currency to level, research and upgrade. The only roguelite elements are the perks you can get while in the map.

What exactly is an extraction shooter? First time I heard that term was with the forever Winter game. I don't know if I've ever played one.

Sorry for my ignorance but I just don't buy games as much as I used to.
