I'm with Vorph here. To me stables is the permanent final choice and war mill is temporary. war mill essentially gives you 500 gold per week (a free seal) once you are done leveling your followers up and dont need the work orders anymore (or get tired of missions and stop bothering). Nice if you are poor I guess, but no other benefit besides that seal, right? The stables give me 20% mount speed, less bothersome harvesting if you're into that, and no daze while mounted. Unless you are a knight that's a sweet package of things you cannot get otherwise no matter how much gold you have, and even as a knight it's a touch better then your class perk.
War mill also gives you a constant supply of follower upgrades. I don't think that is something you will be done with any time soon.

"Constant stream" ... looooooooooooooooooooooool, that's a good one.

My bunker's rank 3 now, and I'm still getting the same constant stream of 1 iron scrap for 20 GR that I was before.

Christ you're salty, Vorph.

War Mill has pitched out quite a few upgrades for my followers, and the tiny amount of scraps for the excess GR that I'm rolling in doesn't bother me. btw, doesn't a Barn give you access to a Stable Master? (and not just the Stables like you posted about before.).

My saltiness is way beyond justified at this point, as far as follower upgrade and savage blood drop rates go.

And that's a negative on there being a stable master in the barn. Amusingly, the stables adds like 6 of them, so if you track them on the minimap all the time that whole area of the garrison is covered with horseshoes.

Look on the bright side. At least with bloods you aren't constantly killing the animal on accident when trying to trap it. Oh, and you get ganked like, 1000% more often by people with 50+ ilevels on you. So that's fun.

If anything makes me get off my butt and move off of a stupid PVP server, it's going to be that.

Yeah, I'm definitely glad I only trap elite riverbeasts now. There have been trolls at the popular non-elite spots killing the elekks or whatever that people are trying to trap since it doesn't matter if they are already tapped when you're just looking to grief.

I'm not saying you're full of shit Vorph and that your grievances haven't been justified...

If you think I'm less annoyed because the Horde barn apparently has a stable master and the Alliance one does not, you're sadly mistaken. Not that it really matters, I knocked down all my barns but the one on my DK and replaced them with Inns.

I get on average 2 upgrade per day (6 WO). Per GR, that's far higher than the salvage yard (when you consider the crate drop compared to mission cost, then the chance of having a follower upgrade in the crate).

You have had better luck than I with the Bunker. I average maybe one upgrade a day and that might be pushing it whereas I see the Salvage Yard as a bonus on top of the primary purpose of Follower missions. Of course I do find myself sending followers out on stupid missions with minimal or zero exp (if they are epic already) just for the chance at a salvage box so I may be overspending in resources compared to the upgrades.

It helps that one of my scavenger followers can double the 99 and 97 GR missions, plus he and the other scavenger both double one of the two 600 missions (500 GR from that). And that other also counters one of the threat on the other 600 GR mission, raising its % success (it's better on average to send both scavengers on that mission, even without 100% chance). I keep one follower at 97 for those extra GR missions.

Unfortunately, I don't have 3 scavengers for the 615 and 630 missions, or I'd have even more GR.

I finally got a scavenger when Pleasurebot hit Rare and got it as his evolution trait. Naturally he is my only tailor so he's a very busy bot

Barn has a guy who will heal/rez battle pets in it I used him for that last night. I have to say my luck with my warmill though does sound a bit like vorph at the moment. I have gotten one item upgrade for followers a few of the hats/shoulders what not for the transmog looks and a whole bunch of iron scrap for 20 gr each. I am finally to the point I am rolling excess GR thanks to my trading post cooking along and two scavenger followers finally blossoming into their own so I keep doing the war mill work orders but they have been quite dissapointing so far.

I've gotten one +3 weapon upgrade and every other work order since upgrading the building to rank 3 has been 1 iron scrap. Which is pretty much exactly the same as it was at rank 2.

I don't even really care about the GR at this point. It's the wasted time. I'm so far behind the curve on getting followers geared up for the 630 missions, let alone the raid ones, that it's likely the stuff will never be relevant. My follower upgrades for the last two weeks consist of one 630 armor and two 615 weapons that I got from missions, maybe half a dozen of each type of +3 green, and a couple +6's. That's not getting me anywhere.

Was it stated that the final tier of follower mission rewards would always give you raid loot one difficulty setting higher than you have executed? Until Mythic, where it just paid you out a considerable gold chunk. I will try and find a link.

If it does work like that, I feel like it would always be relevant, especially to folks that never thing they will Mythic raid.

So my DK is going to have his garrison up and running here this weekend and here's what I'm considering. The barracks doesn't seem to have much use (already lvl 3 on main) outside of the patrol missions, and DK wont be using bodyguard for anything really. So, I want to have a Warmill for when he hits Nagrand and Stables to get the mounts. Is this a catastrophic idea? I'll drop stables once he gets all the mounts for me.

That is indeed how it works. I feel that my follower progress is going so slowly compared to other people who somehow got triple-blessed by RNGesus (epic followers, the right abilities, and plenty of upgrades) that I will never reach a point where I can get items from missions that I need. I have completed the dancing school mission three times, all on my druid which is my least-played/least-interesting alt. Never seen the hearthstone tournament once on any character or a mission for a retraining certificate either.

As for mythic raiding, if I can't do that I would just quit the game because there's no point.

Patrol missions are important if you want to level followers (especially those gained from the inn to patch holes in your counters, add in scavengers, etc.). They're also important for simply adding quantity to your mission list. My druid doesn't have a barracks yet because I can't be arsed to finish off Nagrand and demolish my bunker, and her followers are very stunted in growth compared to my DK and hunter in the same period of time--all because I made the mistake of building the stables first. I also don't see why you wouldn't use a follower with a DK. I run around all the time as blood because it's vastly superior to dps specs for soloing and I still bring Leorajh with me. I don't need the healing, but his dps is a nice boost to my killing speed. And the extra 5 followers is pretty huge too.

Personally I wouldn't mess with a stables on a DK. I put that on a hunter which can actually benefit from all the perks, and I intend to keep it forever.

I like the barracks purely for 5 more followers. If you are running all missions fine and have a good setup without it, why not. For myself, I am lazy and do not move my tradeskill followers off of their respective areas while letting me have slots for leveling up dudes from the Inn without affecting my main force. It also can give you slots for having a 90 - 94 follower and a 95 - 99 follower 'active' so you can still reap the missions.

I would agree. The barracks giving 5 more followers active is by far the best overall constant benefit of any of the large buildings and really cannot see forgoing it on any character. Its nice being able to cycle in a batch of lower level guys just to do the salvage loot box train on fast missions when I am actively playing and then still have a bunch of the higher tier missions for my overnight stuff it allows a much better balance of phat loot for yourself and still being able to gear up followers. Also it pays to gear up your green/blue followers before the purple ones because they are going to be the ones reaping the most benefits of the high XP missions. Its good to totally deck out one purple "sugar" daddy to help get successes but make sure to not skimp on gearing up your greens/blues so they can become purple and more useful faster.

One nice thing is from the sounds of it the raid level loot stuff will always be appropriate for you so even if you are a bit off the pace at the moment as each raid tier is released you catch right back up fast.
