Ouch. Pretty harsh on the greeks. Penalty wasn't a bad one, just brought out a great save. They really needed to finish the game in extra time to avoid the lottery.

Penalties have been money so far. Makes yesterdays shit show look like little league pk's.

Ya, Campbell looks dead, and he's 5th taker....
Campbell's shot was pretty shitty, but keeper guessed wrong. Rest of the goals were decent, the one that was saved was no where near a good one though either.

Mid height, no where near enough to the post? Not a great spot if keeper goes that way it's easily savable.
Keeper had to stretch himself a lot to get it, and shooting right next to the post is a sure way to hit the post and not score at all, as seen yesterday. Just saw another repeat, it was an ok shot. Costa Rica had two like these and once the keeper barely missed it (#3) and the other the keeper went the wrong way (#4)

Yeah if the keeper goes the wrong way any shot looks fine. Plenty of penalties go in but aren't great penalties. Keeper did have to stretch more than I thought but it still was in that height where a keeper diving that way is going to have a good play on it. The 3rd shot by Costa Rica would have been in this same territory but the delay on it and how central it was had the keeper overplay that way and miss it.

Was wondering this earlier in the week, but typically how are 'plays' or strategies relayed in from the side lines in soccer? Are the coaches, coordinators, or whomever using hand signals or do they just yell at the players as they run by and the captain or #1 guy run the formation on the field?

10% adjusting formation and/or strategy, 10% shouting at the ref, 80% "WTF are you doing!". Set plays on corners or free-kicks are decided on the fly by the players. but often trained beforehand (like the surprise 1st post deflection by the koreans).

As for the penalties, the one that got stopped was not great. If you assume the keeper will always chose a side and dive, the worst shot (of the ones on target obviously) is a low one, half way toward a post: if the keeper guessed right, he stops the shot, so 50%. Campbell's was actually a 50% but he got away with it. The shot that got stopped was probably a 60% or 70%. The first three were 100% and there were a couple 80%: shots that can be stopped if the keeper guess right AND does something special.

But where does the Holland forward rank in the all-time list of worst diving culprits in the game? We have listed eight more below, ending on the one we believe is the biggest cheat

They seem to have made it "of all time" just so they could stick Klinsmann in it, since everyone else is still playing.

8. Steven Gerrard
7. Nani
6. Cristiano Ronaldo
5. Didier Drogba
4. Gareth Bale
3. Luis Suarez
2. J?rgen Klinsmann
1. Ashley Young

So Gerd M?ller, 68 goals in 61 international matches, is not good enough for that list? Looks like it was written by boys who only know the last 15 years of football history

Was der Bomber noted for his diving? Not really something we picked up on over here in the UK. Typical British paper though, nothing exists outside the EPL
