Even now, I would rather raid with a handful of guys/gals who WANT to be there, and try, even if they fail, but have a good attitude and a good camaraderie than 18 other perfect players with the typical ego issues that come with every heroic raider that thinks they are really as mythic raider, except they arent... but it isnt ever THEIR fault they arent.
There are two sides to this coin. If you have people who want to be there and try, and you feel that they want to improve then it's all good. But god forbid you are raid leading and the other people in your "family" guild are coming to the raids with the attitude that they are doing you a favor by being there, and you should be thankful they even show up. Setting up the raid at 7:30 pm, people not logging in until 8 pm, not reading up on boss strategies and then not listening when you explain it, and also not asking questions if they don't understand something. Sindragosa in ICC sucked the very soul out of me. Suffer mortals, as your pathetic magic betrays you!

The worst part is that they started to resent me, and I started to resent them. Because at the end of the day I couldn't figure out why they would even come to the raids. Is it the loot? Purple epics seem to be one hell of a drug.

One thing that was made better, but also made the game worse is no longer requiring folks to play the previous tier to play the current tier. Just because you were clearing BWL didn't mean you didn't also do MC. So few gear pieces dropped, and turnover was a thing in a 40mam raid, you needed to field recruits or hope your chest drops after 9 months of farming it. I grew so disgustingly bored with MC after doing it every fucking week for nearly 2 years. Doing Ony because three players needed helms, but we'd get two paladin helms on horde and end up wanting to murder someone...

It was also funny seeing who would show up for MC, but not BWL or AQ until it was farm status. Tried to keep track of those so they stayed at the bottom of the loot wheel. Some fucks like the easy road.
Yeah that's a good example of something making the game simultaneously better and worse. I also suffered that endless MC grind.

Things like ZG and AQ20 helped with parallel loot, perhaps if they were most consistent with that and having an easy raid (for catchup) and hard raid per tier? They do actually do this but it's just difficulty modes within the same raid which probably makes the problem of repeated farming even worse.

They could also do things like have T2 raids drop crafting materials to make T1 gear to get new recruits caught up.

Not a bad idea, but think players would need to collect their own kill currency, so you're not able to just insta-gear any new player. You could still do T2 in blues to get "kill points" to use in conjunction with "T1 mats", maybe even requiring the player to have the related crafting skill, would just lighten the load of needing to do T1 so redundantly, and allow a player to focus on specific gear slots rather than relying on that one drop that just won't drop. Though with how T3 gear worked, that's a lot of shit filling up guild mule banks, as guilds didn't have banks back then.

People were always running MC for bindings/eye anyways, it was a pretty quick run once you massively overgeared it. I quit Vanilla shortly around max level for IRL reasons then came back and had to join a lower tier guild to catch up to my old buddies. I enjoyed it, working for my T2 and learning the fights without being carried gave me a sense of accomplishment.

Does piss me off I only ended up with 7/8 Netherwind though :/ (shoulders only ever dropped once and they ended up going to a fucking mage that was MIA half the time, fucking idiots)

Actually I left and continued to raid with my other guild. I had some family issues plus hated bfa and that's why I stopped. I'm still friends with my new guild.and may go back.

So, are we essentially forced to play Horde because most of the annoying streamers will be Alliance? Because, obviously, we have to destroy them?

Or, will there be enough servers to not ever have to run into one of those twats?

I'm of the opinion you probably would want to roll on a big streamer server so the place isn't completely dead.

I think I’m going to do an ally alt anyway if we do horde. Never saw the old zones and always appreciated the simplistic yet challenging vanilla quest grind. Want to see how it was on that side. I figure warlock on horde and a warrior on alliance. Maybe a rogue. Not sure. Definitely don’t have it in me to do Paladin again. I did that in TBC prior to the 2.1 or whatever xp reduction. Shit was painful to end up fucking spamming flash for 3 tiers at max

Sure I'm riding the nostalgia bus, but having a pretty good time in the beta. It's all the little things like weapon skills, trade skills, trying to get enough money for bags and mounts. Just say an <Elitist Jerks> guild tag.

It's not much different between the two factions as far as questing is concerned, save convenience of city locations during certain tiers. Also weapon training being in Stormwind when you were on the other side of the world sucked from what I remember when I played alliance. The Onyxia quest was also 2x better for Alliance. You really don't miss much between the factions as far as questing is concerned. At least given the patch version they're using. Alliance was a lot better initially, but 1.12 it was pretty even.

We don't really know anything about how the endgame is yet. But everything feels good up to 30. Though with how well the beta is going I would be surprised if the endgame content wasn't mostly ironed out.

I'm going Alliance because this is classic after all and that is where I started. Even though I've played horde for the majority of wow.
