Because the alliance on your server didn't know any better. Which is my point. You can't just erase known strategies. You could run all the way around the back of FW keep to the last GY where there were only the flag NPCs and one patrol. I wish I could find a video of it but you could actually hop the fence and get right there. This wasn't even going straight through the gates after the NPCs had been removed, you could bypass everything in the original version of AV.

I was on a RP server and GMs back in the early days strait up kicked people or temp banned them for doing these things on the grounds of ruining RP for people.
Lame reason for a ban but it served its purpose and we didn’t see much of that in the early days. Our. Immunity was pretty good in Earthen Ring.

The ignorance cut both ways. This was easily countered by the horde if they wanted to by "training" the alliance or just having a defense in force, unless the alliance were extremely careful to turtle by the hut and not grab agro. They would try it on my server and usually it worked only because the horde was surprised. There was a ton of garbage nearby if you could only trick a pet, bait a dunb hunter, or mc hat someone to it. Or just leave 10 horde there and cuck them on arrival.
What I want is TRULY original AV. Best thorium veins anywhere.

This is what I did. You can run through the entire horde base, priest fear the guards and cap the flag solo. Then you can be working on the towers while the rest of the alliance finish killing the miniboss.

The problems with GY rushing started when Blizzard decided PvP should be more PvE oriented and murdered the amount of honor you got for actually killing other players. Moving the only reasonable honor gains to winning the BG. That was when people stopped battling and just ignored each other trying to rush objectives.
Sitting in the field of strife farming the other faction was the best way to get honor until the fun police decided PvP shouldn't actually be player vs player anymore. It also killed world PvP.

Not that's we're talking about live, but I'm convinced the reason they still haven't fixed it is because it's pretty much impossible to kill the boss without taking towers/bunkers so if someone takes your base gy it kind of doesn't really matter

Nahh, back when they came out they were fucking revolutionary. You gotta admit, no other game had BGs before WOW. World PvP just ends up being a slaughter in one way or the other by who brings the bigger dick to that battlefield. Its all about numbers. Sure a few really great players can do some dmg, but all in all if you got the bigger zerg, you will win. BGs kind of equalized all that and gave players in match goals.
