The only people deserving of any praise for killing vanilla bosses are the guild leaders and recruitment officers.

There's a thread where you can talk about the glorious poop socking days of farming resists and pretending you had any semblance of skill at video games because your taunt didn't get resisted or you were really good at mashing decursive.
You can spot eq raiders and vanilla raiding heroes when they join our guild because they usually fucking suck at the game.

YEAH. I mean, wait, I was both of those things. Damnit, there are still 1 or 2 people that think I can half play WoW, Noodle, why you gotta be such an ass?

Well I was a vanilla raider. Probably is why when my mic is muted im swearing nonstop. I'm sure people have noticed but I've been less tolerant of poor performance as of late and quicker to insult members

I had a 'more dots' guild leader in vanilla and it was stressful.

I barely raided in EQ and vanilla WoW, so that's why I'm so bad ass now.

The worst part is you can kill mccheese on the battlefield because he doesn't raid or pvp. But then you hear it. First it sounds like a thunderstorm in the distance, but soon the slow realization that it's a horde of core hound pups and molten corgis cresting over the horizon with blood lust in their eyes. They'll eat his corpse first of course, but you know you're next.

Mythic NH would have been a good raid tier if not for them tuning it for 54 point weapons. The fights in there were interesting mostly (Krosus was lame and Botanist can go fuck him(them)selves) and the zone itself was aesthetically pleasing.

Mythic ToS killed the game for me though. I haven't logged in for weeks.

I'm sorry but you guys talking about the challenges in vanilla don't know what is actually challenging. Buffing 40 people every 15 minutes isn't a challenge - that's a shitty design choice. Taunt missing isn't a challenge, that's stupid fucking design.

Naxx40 was hard shit - I was there, I know. My neighbor was in one of the guilds from Zuljin that actually even killed KT.

None of what you guys are listing is hard. The heigen dance isn't hard, it's a retard check. Nefarian isn't hard, it was a gear check.

The encounters these days are way more complex. Even finding 20 people capable of mythic is the hardest part of running a guild for me.

No the Heigan mechanic wasn't hard. The lag from 40 people also running off shit computers in 2005 during that fight was hard

I had to go back to page 1816 to quote myself because people like Acid fly automatically assume the reason we liked vanillas was because we thought it was harder.... " Im not one of those guys who say vanilla was harder because it wasnt but doesnt matter. Felt good to be a king for 2 years."

The exclusivity made it fun. I looted world first Stormrage shoulders which was tier 2 off Garr in Molten core so early that when I posted the pic in early wowhead people thought I was lying months later because they later removed them from the boss. Players on my server would just follow me around, inspect me and tell me that I was god all day. After raid night I was get high af and sit in Iron forge just to have my e-peen stroked. Good times if you were a part of that. I could log onto methods server right now and have there best geared player run by me and I would never take a second look. I wouldn't even know. Everyone has the shineys now.

I dont know if Afterlife is still known by players here but the other part of my fun was being on their server and beating them. That was a big deal for us. Cenarius was a vanilla high pop server just because the amount of people who knew the EQ powerhouse guild was going there on release

I think the only thing I was impressed by during Vanilla raiding was watching Furor train every single add during the Razorgore encounter in BWL. I was apping to FoH at the time and Razorgore "killed" my previous guild as we couldn't get past it. As a rogue I was told to go sit in the corner until Razorgore could actually be engaged. I sat there and watched Furor keep agro on like 30+ mobs or whatever it was with just warrior shout bullshit. At the time I thought it was pretty badass, at least.

You don't need to log in to Method's server to know. Nobody does. You even know what the name of their guild is in a game you don't even fucking play anymore. You probably even know what Sco and Rogerbrown look like in real life. You're making yourself sound stupid.

He's right, though, and you can't really deny that he's right. Server coupling, cross-realm zones, LFR, etc. have all watered down the notion of a server community. No one gives a shit about any of that anymore.

The notion of a server community? There was never a notion. The people who are high end now are way more famous than people like vGrade ever were. Because it actually has to be their job now. You can't be a weekend warrior and hope to "get high as fuck and sit in Ironforge" and have people notice you. People still notice. Lots more people than ever before. That's what streaming and gaming becoming mainstream does.

It's all sentimental "kids these days will never know what I went through" horse shit. It's much harder to gain that kind of attention now. It still exists, people still say "whoa what the fuck is that and where did you get it?!?!". It happens all the time, everyday and it will never stop. Just because it doesn't happen to you doesn't mean it went away.

Now get the fuck off my lawn.

People don't say anything of the sort. They install an addon that puts the item's info in a tooltip and they're done. Then they go and get the LFR version of the item and transmog it onto their piece of shit.

You can't really be saying that this stuff isn't watered down bigtime. Really.

Transmog in general has kind of watered that down. Rarely do people wear current tier. You can make yourself look prettier with loincloths and butt plugs from old content.

EDIT: I should say that mounts are kind of the new "cool gear bro". Or the closest thing we have to it now.
