This would be giving blizzard way too much credit but I think it would be amazing if this war actually lead to one faction winning and then the next xpac was factionless because all the races are under the winner's banner to fight the void lords. Will not happen though because people are way too hardcore about their faction of choice for the most part.

It’ll be interesting to see if we’re fighting alliance as we quest in horde. There’s an opportunity there for a Wrathgate level attack against the alliance. Instead of some big baddie army killing a major character, maybe we’ll get sylvanas or the like killing a major character. I’d like to see her raise someone like Genn into undeath.

Hell, I'd like to see her raise Varian. Only there probably isn't anything left to raise.

Think of how awesome that would be. Anduin leading the Alliance, and Varian fighting with the Horde against him.

There would have to be some major controls in place on Big Papa Varian for that to be a thing, but it would be pretty cool.

Well, Sylvanas has shown that she's not above doing that. e.g. Eyir scene in Legion

Then at the pivotal moment Varian breaks free of the evil queens control and wins the war for the Alliance! Rabble rabble rabble.

Eh, makes sense. Tyrande was a dick to the nightborne during the Suramar questline while Liadrin was pretty understanding and supportive. Then you have the blood elves who have dealt with harnessing/relieving their addiction being a good choice to guide the Nightborne through theirs after the events of NH.

I was literally in the middle of typing that. Yep, the Sunwell and Nightwell themes are virtually identical, so it's a natural fit.

To be fair, though, Tyrande is a dick to everyone but Malfurion.

Well, guess I never finished those quests, so I guess it's alright.

And get ready for Tyrande dialling the bitching to 11 after Teldrassil is burned down.

Yeah, I wonder how that will play out now that all of the druid ancients have been awakened (including Malorne, sort of) and Ysera is gone.

Someone brought up the idea of the "who attacked first?" debate wanting it to be a prepatch and I kind of agree?

Their idea was similar to the silithus AQ gates opening where you have to gather a ton of supplies, except faction based (or like the mage tower, region based so it's actually balanced) and depending on who gathers enough, say horde wins, then in the prepatch we go on burn down Teldrassil, that way the alliance trying to take Undercity is justified in the expansion, and vice versa. I know that's probably not what they're going to do but It would be a neat idea? Like literally the players sparking the entire war would be great.

If the Alliance "wins" prepatch, though, then what? Do we sack Ironforge in the expansion? I wouldn't say no to this.

Thing is a rudderless Sylvanas as part of the horde could make for interesting storytelling if she wasn’t warchief. Also, her “For the Horde” is very against character and her aligning with the horde out of convenience.

After her bromance with Vol'jin, it would be a lot more in character for her to take on the warchief mantle. She abandoned the Alliance after Vol'jin fell. Seeing the orcs go bloodrage after her shout shows they're actually behind her now.

I'm still What the fuck-ing at the Nightbornes joining the Horde. Like, wtf dudes?

Nightborne are more arcane oriented, which matches highborne/high elf/blood elf more. Tyrande is openly hostile to them during the quests as well, since their kind was what was "wrong" with their civilization. Night elves are basically just a hippy offshoot of the elf civilization, although they are the only "pure" elves that haven't been modified by magic/etc.

N'zoth was actually secretly hitting the gym and bulking up, getting ready to be the expansion boss of BoA after all these years

I keep hoping that the whole set up of Horde v Alliance is a bit of a red herring and the "Battle for Azeroth" is more about a battle to save Azeroth as in the living Titan entity. That Azeroth has a consciousness and a very active role to play in the big picture has certainly been foreshadowed a lot more than a burning need to torch Teldrasil or level Lorderon
