Leveling a HM Tauren Druid atm and I'm level 40. It is definitely a slog. I'm too cheap to buy a character boost so grind away it is.

I like how they neutered the RAF Boost (went from +300% that stacked with EVERYTHING to +50% that does not stack with Heirlooms), stating that 'They did not want new players being rushed through things'. I RAF'd a single person in the 13 or so years I have been playing WoW. I RAF'd myself seven times.

I've been watching some of the streamers playing BfA with war mode on and level 120s are being killed by level 110s. Players like Venruki, who has been R1 since like season 2 TBC are getting killed at 120 by people who are 5-10 level lower than him. Reportedly because legendaries are still active at those levels.

MMO-Champion - Battle for Azeroth Preview: War Mode, PvP Talents, and More

Am I the only one that feels like this much effort spent on the wow pvp game is a big fuck you to the vast majority of players who actually play the game? I know pvp has its following, but let's be honest, it's been a shit show since arenas were introduced. You don't take a pve game and flip this much development into pvp unless you're looking to make it stagnate.

The whole orcs vs humans thing ended a long fucking time ago. It's been us vs the azerothian threat from even before ocs even knew humans were a thing... A world at peace expansion would make more sense from a lore standpoint. Bring in the void, old gods, like how we went and destroyed the elemental lords in their own plain of existence. We even hold the pillars. Defeated the guy who was the source of the planet's conflict, and now you wanna tell me we're gonna go back to squabbling? Why? Because some 3rd expansion wolf is butt hurt over Sylvannas saving him from the corruption of power and revenge?

When does ghost Voljin come back and tell them to chill the fuck out, there are bigger villains than their neighbors.

I just did the artifact questline out in silithus on a group I hadn't done it yet on and it's artifact level 127 and concordance 76 today. Looks like it just gradually goes up every 48h maybe?

It's gradually going up constantly. I got bored while derping around on flight paths and decided to track it. If you open up your weapon panel you'll see the AP value going up constantly. It doesn't matter if you're online, offline, actively looking at the window or anything. Just completed the quest on an alt and it's at the same value going up.

I've been tracking it for a few hours now and it's going up like 18 trillion per hour or roughly 400 trillion per day. We're at like 4,740 trillion right now and if my napkin math is correct we'll get the next upgrade at around 6,000 trillion. In 3 days. Next bump would be at 7,800 trillion 6 days after that.

They will probably change something on Tuesday though, so just expect one more bump before then (sometime Sunday evening).

So I logged in and did the Silithus stuff to empower my weapon, and goddamn was that boring useless tedious shit to do it. First I have to go back and forth to the little Horde town, then you have to sit around waiting for SI-7 mobs to spawn since 45645 other people are looking for them too. Then you have to kill some bugs, give toilet paper to a dude to wipe his shitty ass. Then be an errand boy running back and forth as Khadbro is like lol eat shit, go talk to Magni. Then you turn the glowing sword of Sargeras into the non gloving sword of Sargeras. Not even sure I wanna bother on other toons.

Blizzard's story telling sucks massive pig dick.

I started an elk shaman and a void warlock thinking I was gonna level up for the tmog, but then realized I'd rather shoot myself in the face than endure manually leveling another character.
If the xmog had been at least useable by "similar" races (like the VE racial being useable by night elf/blood elf), it might have been interesting. As it is, the bonus is limited to those who want full account-wide ATT completion percentage...

Developer Interview - Battle for Azeroth
Forbes posted part two of its two part interview with Game Director Ion Hazzikostas about the top things to do in game before Battle for Azeroth launches.

  • The Chromie scenario will be unchanged and the rewards will continue to be available in Battle for Azeroth.
  • Class mounts aren't going anywhere.
  • There will be no change to mount and collectible drop rates from outdoor content in Broken Isles or Argus after Legion ends.
  • The tower challenge was tuned around ~905 ilvl and 50 artifact power levels so the addition of max artifact weapons should help lower the stress of the challenge.
  • Most of the challenges are about practicing mechanics more than gear, and should be doable with outdoor-Argus level gear.
  • Mythic Gul'dan and Argus mounts will become rare drops and the Violet Spellwing mount will be unavailable when Battle for Azeroth launches.
  • Legion Brawler's Guild achievements will be replaced with Battle for Azeroth Brawler's Guild achievements.
  • If you have 800 skill level in a profession before the patch, you will have all previous expansion's crafting maxed.
  • If you have 650 skill level in a profession, you'll have 100 in earlier expansions, 50/100 for Warlords of Draenor, and 0/100 for Legion.
  • Trinket procs and set bonuses will remain functional when the patch goes live.
  • There are no plans to have events that boost leveling experience in the pre-expansion patch such as the demon invasions.
  • The team is happy with the overall pace of leveling as of 7.3.5.
  • Battle for Azeroth should be a little more alt friendly than Legion.
  • Getting BiS legendaries for your spec and leveling each artifact weapon is no longer an issue, so it should be much easier to keep your other specs relevant.
  • Blizzard feels that Legion was a truly successful expansions and players in general have been more positive about it than other recent expansions.
  • The team is excited about the improvements to the gearing system which gives more control to the player and lessen the impact of randomness.
  • The pre-expansion patch will have the story events and world quests leading up to the burning of Teldrassil.
  • Catch up gear will be included in the Darkshore world quest rewards for the prepatch event.
  • The plan is to have the Battle for Lordaeron scenario available a week before launch of the expansion for players that have purchased Battle for Azeroth.

I don't understand how you guys think one shotting everything until level 100 was "good game design"

I agree that it was shit before but now its just slower shit.
There wasn't a lot of thought put into the "leveling experience" outside of more hp for every mob and zone scaling, thats it.

Had they put some thought into it like not giving access to every spell at level 50ish leaving a huge hole of absolutely nothing to look forward to, among other issues, it would've been a much better experience.
But as it is its just boring and quite honestly it feels like the main purpose of those changes was to increase the appeal of character boosts and race changes.

New heritage armor for every single race would be the only thing that would get me to level again tbh. I agree though, it's still shit but at least you have to mildly pay attention.

Honestly if they updated old zones like they're doing with arathi/uthers tomb right now I'd be inclined to level as well. Old zones have nostalgia to them sure but having something to explore again would be cool

I don't think anyone is saying that the leveling was great before. In fact WoW has been about max level and current expansion zones since basically forever at this point. If you aren't in those areas you might as well fuck yourself. It's also why all new copies of the game come with a boost to the current shit.

Slowing all the leveling down to a crawl and taking a Cleveland Steamer on the Heirlooms and RaF stuff was just a money grab to encourage boosts.

You do not have to do the SI-7 quest.

Just the peon quest, then the collect the guys head quest. Then you do four 'deliver this letter' quests to Magni/Khadgar and you are done.

I don't know why you keep coming back to this. Shit still dies stupidly fast in the open world, except now you get like 1/3rd the exp. Watch the exp you get for kills next time you level a character. You get about 170-180 exp per kill with full heirloom at level ~35 and it scales all the way to a whopping 190-200 by the time you get to level 70... except you need way more exp to level up by then. It takes fucking forever to get through 14 year old content for no good reason at all.

There is nothing interesting about the lower level game, some classes don't even get their interrupts or any interesting skills until they are in their 50s. Fuck, balance druids don't get their silence until level 80. Dungeons absolutely suck because lower level characters have about 3 buttons they can press and literally can't even do anything about shit that's happening in certain situations at lower levels. None of this was good. It was a short sighted knee-jerk "fix" to keep people from being able to level their allied race characters in a day or two. It's just another artificial, unintelligent time sink.

This whole "Oh if it takes longer it must mean it's more interesting!" shit needs to die. Levelling new characters absolutely sucks now. From 40-60 you will get, on average, 2-3 levels per zone. An entire zone's worth of quests in vanilla will only give you 2-3 levels in full heirlooms.

My big issue is that they do seem to be really REALLY pushing world PVP by making the 'optional PVP' talents a hell of a lot nicer than the actual talents you get normally. They are all things that you want to have for doing World Quest dailies and such, not a 'oh that's a cool bonus' but more 'fuck yeah that changes things up nicely for my spec'. Basically all the originality that went into the Artifact Weapon gold-nodes is expressed in BFA in the World PVP talents.

Has anyone looked at the nicer end Azerite armor? Does it offer up some interesting abilities that open up new ways of playing ALA Diablo 3 legendaries or is it just a chance to proc +gooder for 10 seconds?

The whole point of the change was for new players not existing ones RAF'ing themselves. The old world leveling had become such a joke that you leveled so rapidly it did almost nothing in showing you how to actually play your class and for new players the whole experience until you started slowing down near max level felt really fucking weird and bad. As much as they cater to existing customers they also need to make sure they are still attractive to new customers and the old leveling system while fast and easy for people who have done it a lot was really not very fun for people just being introduced to the game.

That is fine and dandy, but it is blatantly not true.

They capped maximum bonus XP at +50%. Heirlooms can already put you at +55%.

They also removed the XP bonus potions that dropped from various places. (Examples 1, 2 - The one they left is pitiful 3).

So do not tell me they did it just to make the experience better for new people. New players did not have access to those potions, which regularly sold for 15-20k, if not more.

They flat did it to artificially increase playtime for people leveling their Allied Races, particularly as there are at least four (Mag'har/Dark Iron, Zandalari/Kul`Tiran) more of them coming through the life of the expansion, if not more.
