I wish they would go all out and make this game into TBC/WOTLK instead of making small little retard changes like this.
How do you teach people to be casual as fuck and that they gotta go FAST for like 7 years and then expect anyone to be okay with you reverting changes to a worse version of the game? It's like in BFA they're just throwing out all fun gameplay just for kicks
It's the nature of how Blizzard designs the game. It's all a big schizophrenic pendulum.
Look at WOTLK > Cata. WOTLK was a super easy to get into expansion and allowed pretty much anyone to access the raid content at some level, and the heroics were a joke. This was after the much more difficult Vanilla/TBC. People justifiably complained about how easy WOTLK was and Blizzard did a complete 180 for Cata, making the heroics brutal for average and below players, and the normal initial raid content was tuned far harder than anything in WOTLK (10man at least). Add in the retarded fucking guild leveling system and it seriously fucked up a lot of the more casual playerbase. And then came LFR to give them easy access to raids...
They're great at starting out with good ideas, but they nerf the everliving shit out of them into the ground, realize their mistakes and revert it all, but with the added baggage of time.
One good example of this is world treasures & rare skull mobs. It was perfect to start with in MoP. They were both rare with lengthy respawn times, had good rewards & related achievements. They progressively became less interesting, rare, or rewarding in WoD, then Legion, and now we have a version where the treasures aren't worth the time it takes to loot them, and the mobs respawn in under a minute making them the exact opposite of rare. People are complaining about it, and you can be damn sure that we'll be back to MoP styles of it for the next expansion, but still lesser than its original form.
Spend time thinking about how various elements of the game have changed across its lifespan and you'll quickly see the pattern.
