As long as they shift everything to Shadowlands, I'm okay with it being boring.

Hopefully this is the smallest content drought we get and 9.0 hits sometime in August/September

That's 8-9 months from now....

I feel like this patch is already off to a boring start. These Assault zones are not very fun. I thought the activities and WQs in Mechagon and especially Nazjatar were pretty fun.

The rares quest is even more annoying than the Mechagon one and for less reward.

I resubbed to look and unsubbed an hour later. Makes me regret buying Shadowlands because that's going to suck as hard as this.

I'll say the Visions stuff has interesting mechanics, and I like how you can build towards it being more solo or group oriented depending on your play style. But there's virtually no content. You do the entry quest, complete the assaults, do a couple visions and you're basically done. Obviously there's a lot more to min/maxing the Visions and what you can accomplish in a given week, but it's just Uldum and Vale redone to have some new mobs and N'zoth flavor (pretty much just the Vale for that).

Enjoying the horrific visions for now. Once I manage a full clear, it will probably be boring. Up to 2 bosses plus Thrall.

Patch 7.3 -> 8.0 = 13 months.
Patch 6.2 -> 7.0 = 13 months.
Patch 5.4 -> 6.0 = 13 months.
Patch 4.3 -> 5.0 = 10 months.
Patch 3.3 -> 4.0 = 10 months.
Patch 2.4 -> 3.0 = 7 months.
Patch 1.11 -> 2.0 = 6 months (I'm ignoring 1.12 which had no new content).

We haven't had anything that fast since LK.

Id imagine they are shooting for August again, to get all the bugs ironed out before people want off work for holidays. I would guess that they are pushing a lot of overtime for 2 or so months before and after each xpac release.

So was this what 4.3 was like with reusing a lot of already in game assets?

Pretty much. There was a lot of QQ when 4.3 dropped because there were no new enemy/environmental assets used essentially. And for some reason the raid entrance was in Caverns of Time.

Patch 7.3 -> 8.0 = 13 months.
Patch 6.2 -> 7.0 = 13 months.
Patch 5.4 -> 6.0 = 13 months.
Patch 4.3 -> 5.0 = 10 months.
Patch 3.3 -> 4.0 = 10 months.
Patch 2.4 -> 3.0 = 7 months.
Patch 1.11 -> 2.0 = 6 months (I'm ignoring 1.12 which had no new content).

You're missing some patches there. Legion had a 7.3.5, I'm sure a few other expansions had patches after the ones listed, as well.

7.3.5 was bugfixes and level scaling below 100 (6 months after Argus). The last content patch was 7.3. Same reason I ignored 1.12, I only took the last actual content patch of the expansion.

I'm sure stuff like complete world level scaling still takes away from time working on the new expansion, though. It's also a little ironic when 8.2 and 8.3 were much later than 7.2 and 7.3 and that's the only major factor for 8.3 to Shadowlands being a shorter time frame. Makes me worry the beta won't have nearly enough time.

Given how much feedback from the previous beta was taken into account... do we really need quarter-long betas?

I thought a great deal of BFA's issues were a too short/bad beta? Obviously if they're not listening to players or players aren't giving good feedback, it won't really matter.

I'd like to imagine blizzard recognizes this is their last shot. If they release 2 BFA's in a row, retail is done for. When even the ultra casual playerbase is annoyed at your shit you have problems.

That said, visions are really fun.. for now. When fully decked out and max upgraded cloak I'm sure it'll just be another island expedition difficulty thing but I hope I'm somehow wrong. Skulls can prove to be interesting I'm sure.

The Visions are fun now b/c they're new, once you're clearing all 5 bosses every run with masks and what not and cloak upgrades are time gated to 1 a week, I can see them getting boring, and they're really the only content outside of the raid.

The horrific visions are pretty good so far. The rest of the content blows. The minor vision daily doesn't even make sense, and Uldum is a complete horseshit of a zone.

The daily vision is all about staying in as long as you can and killing enough stuff for more currency to purchase upgrades at the research thing in the Heart for Horrific runs. Some people aren't running any of their Horrifics until they've done more daily visions this week in order to have as many upgrades as possible for their Horrific runs.

I feel like the daily minor vision doesn't really drop much of anything for currency.

It needs some actual bosses in there or something.

Any elite mob you kill will drop currency, and rares (starred mobs) will as well of course. Had friends stay in their daily for 30 min plus just wracking up as much as they can.

Unless you are a high end mythic raider, that shit is not worth it. Get the quest done and go about your life.

I think one of the main reasons I have enjoyed horrific visions so much is that I didn’t read anything about them. I have learned everything organically, including not even looking at the skill tree until a quest gave it to me.
