Eh, the 1.12 talents and the revamped itemization (+hit and +spell damage on dungeon gear) are the biggest things that have impacted Classic clear times.

We had threat meters and dps meters in MC/Ony after a month or so.
There were DPS meters but a lot of people weren't fucking doing good DPS on a regular basis, but fuck kicking them and trying to find replacements with 40people raids, people who logged in for raid night AT THE RIGHT TIME and without missing nights randomly were more valuable than high damage for a lot of guilds. There wasn't really any sort of hard enrage mechanics for a while in wow, so early on in vanilla it didn't matter, and yeah as a result people were playing fucking awful and it was whatever. You still had people showing up to raids with no enchants, no potions, no flasks(granted these were stupid annoying to farm and shit so it was better to setup a guild bank by selling MC runs and then buying them for everyone). The top end did know "how to play" the game though, for the most part, just a vast majority of people didn't, and there wasn't anywhere where they could read how to play and at least maybe try a little bit.

Not hand waving anything away, BFA is the worst thing blizzard has ever put out. It's really good right now if you don't care about parsing, but it took it 2 years to be an actual game first.

Ehhhh, I still think about that second year of WoD when I think about their lowest point. At least there's plenty of shit to do right now.

WoD was great, don't know what you're talking about. Log on to raid twice a week, log on once or twice a week to make the free 10k gold and collect some herbs for consumables from your garrison. Then get off wow the rest of the time.

The goal of WoW is to not have to play WoW.

They really need to fuck off with guards in towns that you arent supposed to pvp in. Either make them always 1 shot cunts griefing in the middle of the towns or remove them altogether so people dont get fucked over trying to defend themselves.

It's amazing how much 1.12 stuff gets overlooked as far as how "easily" stuff got cleared on Classic. It's a massive difference.

I mean honestly, I just want to be able to .. you know.. be social during a f'n raid. You know, the "pinnacle" point of the game where everyone comes together to fight the big baddie? What may be easy to me, may be extremely difficult to another and vice versa. Some of us just want to f'n relax and invite all of our friends to raid and have fun. But no, the devs are chasing after esports and concurrent online users.

I've been puggin normal and heroic nyolatha with 3 other people I regularly play with. We go in there and we don't watch the videos. We play 1 tank 1 healer and 2 DPS so its pretty easy to get raids together. We have the little TLDR imgur up but that was about it. We bullshitted, we panicked, we pulled some amazing audibles. Easy bosses for try hard guilds to be sure, but like somebody said before, pugging it and getting a bunch of random retards together while everyone's bullshittin and drinking and making fun of each other is about the pinnacle of WOW IMO.

You can do that. Get 20 friends and queue LFR. Oh, wait, you want that and to clear the hardest content in the game? Make your choice. They have 4 levels of hard core. Choose the one you want to do. Don't blame Blizzard because you are forgoing the one you want to complain about the one you don't want.

More Fyff. You must go deeper. Wasn't even stated they had to kill/beat anything. Just "have fun". Raiding with your friends should be fun enough on its own. Kill what you can kill, don't NEED to kill any more than that to be fun. Go back to 1 difficulty level, not everyone clears the entire raid during the current patch and it's okay. They still have fun.

To chime in, he was right about playing your character "wrong" in the early days. Choosing your own talents led to lots of people opting into things that made them sub-optimal and most players didn't respec regularly due to the costs involved. I did the same thing myself with my warlock. I was heavy destruction, but wasn't prioritizing fire spells (not like there was much selection...you had immolate, searing pain, and the pyroblast thingy whatever it was called that took like 5 seconds to cast). I never matched the warlocks who went heavy affliction or used demon sacrifice.

*shrug* I'm okay with not killing stuff because I am not good enough but having different difficulty levels doesn't bother me either.

having fun is not on the individual. If you get together with 20 other people and don't have fun, that's probably not on the devs.

Man those legion questlines go on forever. Doing them for fun/because I want to hit exalted everything and dear god is there a lot of side questlines and timegated shit(and it was nerfed a ton so it's actually not that bad but still).

Unlocked Legion flying a few days ago so at least it's going faster than before when doing WQs and shit, I thought Argus would be grindy but with all the changes and double rep, I basically hit exalted in both rep just doing the story quests and 2 days of WQs, legionfall also hit exalted off mostly the story quest(although these were really painful, forcing me to go and do all my class hall bullshit first). Done with most of them and most of BFA reps too. Which is good now I can relax more and start playing my alts, I didn't want to not cap reps before the buff went away as I feel I'd regret it potentially. I couldn't do alliance reps for allied races but I guess these get unlocked next expansion anyway so won't be a problem plus not sure I'll switch anyway.

Damn I'm going to miss doing an ass ton of AOE damage as a Rogue. With the new changes in Shadowlands capping at 5 targets I feel like Melee going to get super fucked. Isn't that just going to make DOT classes just more powerful?

It feels like it's a M+ only affecting change where dot classes are already complete trash and not brought. All of the range classes are looking like complete ass going into SL.

Yeah, it's a M+ only thing really. Even then, unless you're pulling half the dungeon on a 15+ you are not going to notice because you're going to do enough damage for it to not matter anyways.

The only reason I say this is because they nerfed twilight devastation from being uncapped to only hitting 5 targets and you would never have known it if they didn't announce it in a hotfix. I sure didn't notice.

5 targets is only 2 groups of mobs in almost any dungeon. Only way you wouldn't notice is if you're always only doing 1 group of mobs, in which case nothing would matter so why even change it. It's more of the Blizzard "fun detected" curating process and shows no lessons were learned.
