Regarding the discussion on pug raiding, I think it's fine but the one thing that pug groups do not seem to do well is keep people grouping with each other consistently and therefore forming the cohesiveness necessary to down tough content in a consistent manner. For example while we were levelling there were many groups we ran normal dungeons with that we clicked and had a good time, then everyone left and we'd never see those people again unless we added them via battle.net id, which is kind of awkward now for folks you just met. In vanilla/TBC we added friends much easier and were more patient with people since they were always on our home server. Some modifications could make cross-server groups and raids more like that environment.

This has been mentioned before but I think there should be an enhancement to the LFR/LFD system which allows you to +/- people you group with. People you + are prioritized when you use LFR/LFG, people you - are relegated to the bottom of your personal stack. Over time and use players would grow a more consistent set of people with which to do content, possibly leading to players friending more people and new or merged guilds. If the game is going to require grouping at the high end it should at least do everything to nurture not just group formation but stickiness.

The LFR/LFD raid interface should also allow some options to match you with people who play at the same time and intensity and have similar goals. I think the best LFR/LFD tool is one that eventually people no longer have to use regularly because they have developed a guild or at minimum a circle of friends from it.

Been a few dudes adding me from here to raid Saturdays and I'm losing track of which people on my friends list they are. On Saturday unless you've been coming for awhile I probably won't remember you so just send me a tell in the morning to remind me. Noodleface#1412

That's sort of tough to answer. We have a few dedicated healers right now, so I'm leaning towards DPS. We had a few weeks where we were getting like 1 healer and having to pug the rest, so a bunch of people leveled up healers. I know we have Gurga, Alavaz (JTheRuler here), Faizy, a shaman that is newer so I can't remember the name, and probably others. Alavaz, Faizy, and Gurga have been there every week. As I'm typing this I would say lean towards DPS, if shit hits the fan we can see what we can do.

That said I always tell people to play what they enjoy (besides tank, we have a few on backup already). We can always fill the rest.
There goes my hopes and dreams. Lolweneeddps

I really hate this Ele Shaman I'm playing now and wish I could go back in time and push a hunter instead. I also really don't understand why with the way gear works now any mythic guild would take an Ele over just a 3rd hunter. Because they don't want to divide up range weapons?

I assume because class balance always changes and it's better to have one of each so you always have that FOTM class.

Possibly due to fights like the one in highmaul where you need a certain amount of magic damage specifically but yes hunters seem like even the bad ones float to the top of the DPS meters currently.

Hunter can switch from SV (magic) to MM (phys) on Ko'ragh when needed. There's nothing like that in BRF though. Also, hunters are square in the middle of the dps pack these days. They can't even remotely compete on cleave fights with the classes/specs (Moonkin, Arms, Fire, Enh, Combat, etc.) that excel at that shit.

Ele shaman isn't bad though, it's just like the polar opposite of the hunter playstyle due to them having to hard-cast damned near everything. If I had to guess why a raid group would specifically want one, it's because the Ele T17 4pc is one of the strongest sets in the game according to sims. Whether that's enough to make Ele as good as Enh, or another class entirely, I have no idea.

Yeah it's like a flat 11% dps increase which is better than every other spec, which at least makes it seem like Blizz recognizes they need the help. They also get damage buffs in 6.1.

And I'll stress that in a fight where I don't have to move or a fight with heavy AOE (not cleave) Ele does fine in DPS. I don't really care about meters as long as I'm in the 'fine' category. I'm not going to approach Mages in those single target DPS races and the other shaman spec is going to spank me in AOE but it's at least at a level where it's not hurting the group.

But all movement fights? I'm not even sure why I'm even in the raid for something like Hans/Franz or Maidens. I enjoy playing something that is a challenge, but in a heavy movement fight I'm spending a whole lot of time doing nothing.

Hans and frans is pretty annoying as a class that needs to hard cast. one thing you can do though is ride the medians between belts and cast on those but even there raid leaders just need to understand no fight with that much movement is going to favor classes that need to sit still and unload. Still its better to have some diversity instead of stacking one class because with the yo-yo of balancing if you stack to much you risk getting really screwed down the road if that spec you are stacking gets nerfed.

If hunters are #1 then everyone else is doing something wrong.

We are the kings of the top 5 finish though.

Yeah, I don't know where people get the idea that hunters are #1 at anything. The class pays a huge price for its mobility, and since fights have to also be doable by every other class and spec, mobility is pretty highly overrated.
