The reason you ping pong between warspear/ashran and garrison is that not only there isn't anything to do outside those two places, but also, getting anywhere is a fucking chore without flying.

I saw so much of Pandaria and still kept going to zones after dinging 100, not so much Draenor.

This is the the main thing I think the developers overlooked. There was a lot of Pandaria that we revisited over time thanks to both phasing and the legendary quest and also just general touring around while waiting in the queue or whatever. They tried to help that along with the Apexis Crystal daily quests...but those were all sub-areas with almost no content other than "go kill everything nearby for 10 mins and hearthstone back to the garrison"

Furthermore they need to put a goddamn moratorium on anything even remotely Orc related in terms of architecture / content for a 5 year minimum.

That was their whole problem with player housing - very loosely paraphrased they said "We don't want housing to just be something you decorate, we want to give people stuff to do there".

Well, mission fucking accomplished. Now maybe give us actual player housing instead?
Seriously though, lmao. I would much rather have a place to decorate than a place I can send followers out on missions that actually sound fun that I don't get to do. My fucking NPC friends are having more fun than me. There's something wrong with that.

I actually do still enjoy logging on for right now, but I've been doing all the old world content and all the old world reps instead. (getting close to 40 exalted!), once I'm done with that.. I'm not sure what I'll do. A big reason I even got back into the game was because I'm a lorefag andNobbelsparked that interest in me once again. But that's another thing that is only going to last for so long without actual content.

Furthermore they need to put a goddamn moratorium on anything even remotely Orc related in terms of architecture / content for a 5 year minimum.
Holy shit, seriously. Are Alliance even a faction anymore?

There are some things I really like with the garrison; followers/missions, some of the unique dailies and shit. I wish for the next expansion they would do away with the idea of garrison's/housing and institute those things back in to really living capital cities. Housing in an MMO is cool in theory, until it is actually put in a game.

How was the QnA? Anyone bother to watch? Did they announced 6.2 date or anything relevant at all?

Yep. My only alt with a heartstone sets to Ashran is a mage, because he has TP to everywhere else. The others are almost all set to the Pandarian shrine, which gives them quick access to everywhere.
You can get a mage portal to ashran too lol. I think my mage's hearth is set to the bug's quest hub in Pandaria. I could probably just delete it.

In Patch 6.2, the team is looking into having diminishing returns on an account wide level for missions that reward gold. It is a nerf, but alleviates some of of the pressure to have many alts. It is a problem when it scales linearly and having six characters gives you six times the amount of gold, making you feel like you have to log into them all every night.
It was nice while it lasted!

20 Months worth of WoW Tokens bought with just Garrison gold.

I do actually like Garrisons to an extent.. it's easy money and there's the AFK facebook game to it, but if I could at least decorate it or something I'd actually enjoy it. I think too much focus and hype was centered around it and even thought everyone would've afkd in a city, I'd much rather have had a major city hub, maybe even a neutral city again over a Garrison.

That said, talking about Garrisons I remember an old PC Gamer article talking about the future of the game and went and found it. They were already talking about scrapping Garrisons before the game launched, so lol

"In some ways," Chilton says, "I wish we had kept some features bound to the expansions they lived in to make room for more innovation without players feeling like we were taking something away." He points to the Archaeology profession introduced in Cataclysm as an example; he wishes they'd removed it in time for Mists of Pandaria. It's a practice he intends to follow in the future. The garrisons introduced in the upcoming Warlords of Draenor expansion, for instance, won't carry over to whatever comes next."

^ Certainly interesting, possibly risky, but I like the idea.

Some tidbits that relate to recent discussion in this thread from the QnA (MMO-Champion - Patch 6.2 Developer QA - Ion Hazzikostas)

- "There was content in the world, but it was easier and more accessible to get the same things from your garrison."
- "Outdoor world content is the core of an MMO and tremendously important, so the lack of world content was a failing that really needs to be fixed."
- "In Patch 6.2, the team is looking into having diminishing returns on an account wide level for missions that reward gold. It is a nerf, but alleviates some of of the pressure to have many alts. It is a problem when it scales linearly and having six characters gives you six times the amount of gold, making you feel like you have to log into them all every night."

This to me was always one of the worst things they did, it was very anti-RPG. Never made sense to have shit drop from Gruul that was better than Blackhand.
- "With one flat item level for the entire zone and bosses that increase in difficulty as you get deeper into the zone, kills later in the zone become less and less rewarding."

That whole interview read as "we have no idea what we're doing and I don't think we ever did. We also have no idea what to do next. Help us please."

I only do LFR at this point because I don't have much patience for finding a guild outside my tiny guild with a few friends. 10 mans intrigue me and would be the only way I'd raid, but again with the finding a guild thing. That said, I do find the weird flat ilvl for an entire raid to be annoying. I know it takes the pain for farming and gearing up easier in a sense but especially after just coming back to the game I got completely geared in 2 weeks (including 2 garrison missions) and there's no reason for me to set foot in a raid again unless I want to attempt to find warforged gear.. or gear that doesn't have versatality on every goddamn piece I get. I just want some fucking crit, man

It's a loot idea that sounds good until you actually think about its implementation.

They have to put weapons/trinkets for every class at every ilvl, or just delay all of them to the last 2 bosses. Your spec favors 2handers with Multistrike? Too bad, that one's the lowest-ilvl 2hander. "Don't worry, we made the highest ilvl 2hander have Versatility so everyone will want it!" *dev stabbed in the eye.*

You have the same problem with every other gear slot, it's just less impactful with not-weapons/trinkets. If they want the system to work, they need to bring back reforging so my Versatility/Haste max-ilvl plate can be turned into something slightly non-garbage.

Also, combining this with the "We're going to start having lopsided stat allocations!" nonsense is going to do the OPPOSITE of their stated goal for removing enchants/gemslots/Reforging; forcing calculations after every piece of gear drops to see if it's actually an upgrade despite being higher ilvl. God forbid you get a lop-sided item with heavy emphasis on a bad-stat for you... but it's got a gem socket and is warforged.

I'm not sure why they even took reforging out. Enchants and gems.. fine. But people love min/maxing as it is and they've slowly been gutting min/maxing for years now. It's just strange anyone would think it's a good idea.

It doesn't affect me a whole lot because I play heals but I only have maybe one or two pieces with my preferred stat on it right now. I think they took the right move on making gear switch with your specs, that's cool as fuck. Plus I no longer have to carry like 3 different sets of gear depending on what I'm doing. But the stat distribution.. the fuck bruh

For the same reason they dropped enchant on almost all slots and took out multi-gem slots. The problem was that you got a new drop, and you didn't equip it until it was gemmed, enchanted AND reforged. And you could gem and enchant on the spot with your guildmates having stuff, but not reforge. So, forget about putting it on as soon as you get it. Psychologically, that meant it wasn't as satisfying - you knew you had new gear, but had to wait. Frustration. Small, but still.

Of course, instead, you have a new drop, and you don't even roll on it.

No, that's the line of bullshit they fed us. The real reason was because you could get around shitty itemization and hit thresholds faster to beat bosses. It made all gear a possible upgrade and the ability to have less waste. Reforging was an extremly powerful tool for non mouth breathers.-
