Yeah, that's how I expect it to work because that's how it's worked since launch. Today on both my main and my alt the combat follower wasn't getting exp at all.

I foolishly believed my buddy who told me they "fixed" the queues on Stormrage last week. To avoid the queue I would run a simple macro to hit space every 10 minutes and afk in Dalaran after I got off work so I'd be good to go when I was ready to play later in the evening.
Tonight, I logged in around 9 and was position 4100 with an estimated wait of 122 minutes. Sigh... I'm anxiously awaiting his clarification on what he meant by "fixed."

So after leveling my warrior prot, and then hearing that Arms dps is the bee's knees i decided to try it out. Now, my gear is pretty decent. 835 in dps spec. My weapon is a bit behind as my warrior is an alt ( so no 3rd relic slot yet ). My wep is 817 i'm a bit unlucky with relic drops.
I say all that to say despite having some decent gear my dps is absolute garbage! I don't know what im doing wrong. Re-read the icy veins guide to be sure i wasn't missing something huge. I took the less micromanagement intensive spec, it came off as well this might be a bit better but the other works.
So can any arms dps warriors offer me any insights, because it seems like i do more damage as prot. In fact most fights i know i do. Or is it just my 817 weapon holding me back?

Runescale Koi and Stormray are what I fish the most. I sell a ton of the Azshari Salad and Seed-Battered Fish Plate. I'm guessing the crit food sells well too but I don't have that recipe yet.

I gather all the ingredients myself. Though each of those food recipes profits like 200g per food even if you buy all the ingredients. I had a ton of all the ingredients I needed for everything from leveling/world questing + doing my fishing artifact. I just ran out today though and am probably going to start buying mats and cooking the food for a profit. It's faster that way.
The way cooking works this patch is kind of weird.
For instance it takes 5 Runescale Koi and 5 Stormray + some other ingredients to make between 5-10 (depending on recipe skill) Koi-Scented Stormray.
Then you take 1 of of those + some other ingredients to make 5-10 (again depending on skill) Seed-Battered Fish plates.
And most of the ingredients for the highest end food are fairly cheap or just straight up bought from the vendor.

We cleared all of normal tonight and the first boss of heroic emerald nightmare before calling it tonight.
With that, arms dps is great. Our arms warrior was 1st or 2nd on total damage for most of the fights.
But I know how you feel about being off with a spec, was doing poor with destro lock (haven't played it before), we invited a guild friend for last boss and he pulled like 4th or 5th on total damage on destro. So I'm screwing up the rotation most likely, that and I need some haste which im getting screwed out of on drops.

It looks like they changed combat ally followers to only get experience from non-repeatable quests. Won't know if this was intentional for sure until we get some hotfix notes.

Had this for me. Read through some wowhead comments till i found one where this same thing happens and mentions if you swim through the pool of water in the main center room, he should spawn. Sure enough I ran down there and half way through the pool I get the "hero watch out" warning and he spawns.

Were you on of those top 4 rogues when we got the kill? I was the hunter sitting at the base of that golden shower. But at least I got a fancy belt that emits a frosty mist all down my nuts!
