Having played both sides of the Suramar scenario now, it actually makes perfect sense. Thalyssra has every reason to follow the same path that Liadrin and the Blood Elves followed, and Tyrande was a complete mega bitch to every Nightborne elf she could find throughout the entire campaign.

I mean, forget the whole "hero" thing for a moment and look at the broad canvas. The story should play out as if the individual player character is irrelevant to the main talking points, otherwise none of WoW would ever make any sense at all.

That said, yes, continued war on Azeroth is clearly a foil for something else, probably Old God drama.

Yup. Thalyssra and crew siding with horde does make sense since they are much closer to blood elves than night elves. Although the hero character being KOS doesn't make sense you're right, but it's a limitation of their "2 sides enemies forever lulllllllllll" system

I'm a bit annoyed at the reputation requirements for the allied races.
Why would new expansion content require old expansion grinds?
If you are a new player and want to play the new races or if you want to try the races of the opposing faction, you are locked behind a significant amount of time doing content that is no longer relevant.
Unless, of course, they lift the reputation requirements at BfA launch and the actual reason they are in is that they will release these races now and the intent is to try and keep people busy working on those reps now, especially if you want the 4 races and armors. (and maybe cash in some faction changes?)

It will probably go like this:
  • Allied races released as part of the 8.0 expansion pre-patch. At this point rep is required to unlock and level them
  • BfA goes live
  • Rep requirements are removed

I think you are going to see an announcement today for pre-sale and release of at least two allied races, one per side, with a pre-sale purchase. No way they wait until 8.0 to drop the allied races. That would be months with zero content which they seem to be avoiding like the plague these days.

What gives any indication that it would be today? If anything wouldn't they have dropped it with the patch last week? At this point I would guess it would hit with the BfA prepatch.

Also you guys trying to make sense of WoW Lolore are funny. The dick smokers are Blizz after 15 years still can't grasp the concept that every little Timmy can't be the Jesus hero without shitting on story and that nobody ever has or ever will give a fuck about PvP if anything combine factions and give the player base more people to play with.

There is a content patch dropping today for FFXIV so that would kinda fit with Blizzards usual strategy.

Im not entirely sure having new sub-races counts as 'content' in terms of the pre-expansion content drought.

People have been saying January 30th presale info would go up. Not sure where it originated from Hough

Someone with insider information, that's a friend of a friend of some dude in my guild said so, yo.

No, seriously, that's how I heard it.

To be clear, I think they will announce the date BfA will go on pre-sale. I don’t think it will go on pre-sale today. I think the allied races will drop with that pre-sale. We are looking at a minimum of 4 months until 8.0 and I don’t think they are going to let us go that long with zero content. Allied races are an easy way to give content with barely any dev time.

It is purely a hunch. I don’t think they would have included allied races in 7.3.5 without an intent to release them pre-8.0.

For reference, Legion pre-sale dropped 4 months before Legion’s release. We are getting close to a pre-sale date if they are going to hit a release before the fall.

They will release the four Legion based races long before Bfa. The two bfa related races won't even be accessible until you get the reputation to those factions, which won't be available until bfa.

I would be very surprised if they remove any reputation requirements, though it wouldn't surprise me if there were heavy catch up mechanics deployed.

Regarding race affiliations, Goblins were long touted by Blizzard as a neutral race, and yet here we are.

Horde definitely won the stick on the races, though. Two new druid races, while Alliance only gets one more paladin race.

I've said it before but the whole alliance vs horde thing should have been axed years ago. Blizzard will never give up that sweet sweet faction change money though.

That being said, fuck Alliance.

One thing that I found pretty confusing, on the website it says the new Tauren race is Horde and the new Draenei race is Alliance? Why would they add races that are already similar to the same faction? Thought the point was to mix races, like how the other 2 are Blood Elves for alliance and Night Elves for Horde. And then the next 2 look like a fucking waste of time, more horde trolls, they still look retarded as ever.

They aren't new races. They are new subraces.

Meaning it's a very hollow "new" feature meant to add some form of new grind to keep people playing. The more info they release on this expansion the less interesting it sounds.

Scenarios fucking suck. All of them suck. If you don't agree go try doing the legion invasion points on Argus. A capped instance with automatic grouping mechanics that don't even match you up correctly with tank/healer specs and no anti-afk mechanism. Fucking brilliant. And every scenario is like that. And this entire expansion is going to be based around these types of scenarios? Sounds great Ion....

Invasions were ok at first but the repetition is fucking awful.

Also joining just as the boss dies is retarded.

The RTS stuff sounds very intriguing, I just hope it's not some shitty shit like the resource gathering in AV or any other pvp encounter with resource gathering that accounted for jack shit, or as lame as the Nighthold fallen solo zerg.
